Kid friendly. Cozy. Might employee actual Tooth Fairy.
We have been wanting to try this place for awhile but we always end up choosing other familiar places at the last minute.
We stopped on a Friday with 2 kids (7 & 10). Easily got a booth. I liked the drink menu at the table listed everything on draft. The waitress brought us water and asked if we wanted anything else to drink.
I asked about kid friendly drinks and she quickly listed several options that my kid was able to choose from.
She also asked if we needed two kid menus or just adult menus. This might be silly but 10 year old prefers to order from the adult menus and always acts like a disgruntled teen when handed crayons. So for the option to be presented my usually quiet 10 y/o excitedly said “adult menus!” My 7 y/o was excited to have crayons.
We ordered pretzels and beer cheese that was very good. My kid lost a tooth on a very soft pretzel.
The waitress literally walks up right as it happens and says “you lost a tooth! Want a drink with a straw to drink better out of?” Kid says yes. “Do you want a container for your tooth so you don’t lose it?” Yes, please! Do they employee the Actual tooth fairy?! She was so fast, how did she see that tiny tooth in the dark. Truly, I could barely see it in my kids hand. Made my kiddo super happy and comfortable. My 10 year old got the stir fry, said she would get it again. My husband got the chicken Parmesan said it was good but wants to try more things when we come back. I got the 1/2 order of nachos and that was PLENTY big enough and so good. I’m glad I had leftover beer cheese to dip my chips in- I recommend that flavor combo.
For some reason I thought I saw buttered noodles on their online menu but didn’t see it on the kids menu like I promised my 7 year old. She was sad but then choose FISH to eat and liked it!! After we ate we stopped to play some pinball which the kids liked. We will totally be back and with more cash to play games. When we left the waitress confirmed we still had the tooth safe.
Food was good, drinks were good, both kids were happy with their meal choices AND ATE it. I definitely choose places based on their kid friendliness and this place was great. Game room. They apparently employee the tooth fairy or her close friend. We will totally be back. I’ve already texted a couple friends “have you been to Monty’s? Don’t sleep on...
Read moreIn the ever-evolving landscape of dining options in Ann Arbor, it’s not uncommon to encounter establishments that fall short of expectations. As someone who had frequented Banfields for twenty years, I find myself disheartened and frustrated after several attempts to enjoy what was once a beloved spot at the new Monty's Public House of Horror. Sadly, my experiences have transformed from fond memories to disappointment, with food quality & cost and portion sizes that leave much to be desired. Over the past few months, I’ve made multiple visits to Monty's Public House, hoping for a resurgence of the dining experience I once cherished. Unfortunately, each visit has been marked by culinary letdowns that are hard to ignore. The food, which I can only describe as subpar, tends to resemble something you might find in a frozen dinner aisle rather than a vibrant eatery. The flavors are often bland and the ingredients feel lackluster. Another significant letdown has been the soup. What used to be a comforting starter has become a watery, flavorless joke. As someone who appreciates a good bowl of soup, I find it hard to fathom how something so simple can go so wrong. Instead of experiencing rich flavors and hearty ingredients, I’ve been met with a broth that seems diluted, leaving my taste buds yearning for something more substantial. To add insult to injury, the pricing at Monty's remains absurdly high, contrasting sharply with the quality of the food served. As diners, we often accept that higher prices come with an expectation of quality, generous portions, and excellent service. Unfortunately, Monty's misses the mark on all three counts, making it increasingly difficult to justify dining there when better alternatives exist...
Read moreLoved the atmosphere of this restaurant and trivia night was a lot of fun. Waitress was very nice. Food was disappointing to me. Avocado egg roll was not hot and was black inside. Very weird texture. After inquiring about it, the manager was came over and seemed like a very nice and personable and explains that the avocado oxidizes and you kind of just have to close your eyes when you eat it… you were so nice but my food needs to look appetizing! I have had fried avocado and avocado egg rolls other places and they don’t look like that. They didn’t bring back my piece of egg roll and didn’t take it off the bill. Got the Cajun burger based off the reviews, the bun was bigger than the patty and just wasn’t anything special to me didn’t have a lot of flavor. The bacon on the burger was very weird. At first it was so thick and hard almost like fried ham. Then it wouldn't come apart and the whole piece came out of the burger and it was a weird globulous fatty meat piece. Sweet potatoes fries seemed like that could have been awesome but seemed cooked twice almost. We’re a little hard and had a strange taste. Regular fries were pretty good. Tasted almost like fryer oil needed to be changed. Best thing was probably the pomegranate beet salad. I think the food quality could use a boost and you have a winner here. We did still have a nice...
