I have been going to this restaurant for twenty years with my family. It's become a very popular spot, locally. My family is one of the oldest family's of Antioch, so we have seen a lot of changes over the years. The Chef's at this resturant are very talented and deserve credit for their expertise and expirence. They do deliver consistently good Mexican food. However the owners, or who ever does the intake/ordering, needs to quit cutting corners. Just because the local area doesnt have a high payout in consumption and tips, doesn't mean the restaurant should cut corners in service. I expect an authentic Mexican dinner, and tonight was something short of that. My family is of European heritage, and we really dont care about race, at all, but we did feel disrespected/targeted when the cook tonight decided to put American cheese on our Mexican food. It felt outlandish and unorthodox. Besides that, our waitor did not make sure we had an adequate amount of beverages for our party. Lastly, there were teenagers smoking near the rear resturant entrance. I think a 25ft no smoking sign should fix that. I know the parents would appriciate that. Other than that, this resturant is a very nice place to eat at when everything works out. In the restaurants defence, Friday might have been a hectic time to eat out, because they have a stylish bar around the other side of the resturant. Even a few beautiful women too. Perhaps if we ate here on a Tuesday we would have expirenced a more lovely Mexican supper. I would like to say that we have faith in this restaurant and look forward to eating here again. A second chance is sometimes necessary and I know that Celia's is a fine establishment. If the surrounding neighborhoods werent so dangerous and crime ridden, more money would come into the business. And more money means better service and so forth and so on. If you are eating at this restaurant, make sure it is on a quieter day of the week, that way you can enjoy a nice authentic Mexican meal. The food was hearty, and furfilling, they definitely put a good amount on the plate. Just wish they didnt put American cheese on the food. Who does that? We look forward to giving the restaurant another chance next week. P.s. the women that work here are beautiful and could probably be models if they werent so busy. FINAL REVIEW: A fine Mexican restaurant that has triumphed over the years in spite of being in the heart of some dangerous projects and sectionocts. Nonetheless, The restaurant is a safe location to eat at....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy family and I used to go here regularly. This place is not the same. I have not been here in three years, we didn't return after a really bad experience. We had dined inside pre-pandemic time. There were so many flys at our table we had to be moved. They said it was because someone had opened a door, but that is not how tons of fly's harbor in one area. We were also the furthest table from the door. This type of flight infestation is due to maggots and poor cleaning/hygiene. We should have called the health inspector but instead just decided not to return. Well, since the pandemic happened, and restrictions have been loosened, enough time went by where they would have had plenty of time to properly clean. So we decided against our better judgement, to give them another try. We didn't dine in this time, we got our food to go. We ordered the same meals we always do, so we knew what to expect. We received tacos that were soggy and had very little meat, brown lettuce and some runny sour cream. My enchiladas had carne asada. But the meat was cut so small it resembled hamburger meat! There wasn't any sauce or cheese on them either! My husband had a chile relleno, a tamale and an enchilada. His enchilada had flavorless chicken also with no cheese or sauce on the top. His tacos were all soggy and in the same condition, Brown lettuce runny sour cream only. My son had a super wet burrito but he said Little manuals tasted better. It was kind of weird to find out that they put Parmesan cheese on this burrito. I have had many restaurants make super wet burritos and have never heard of them adding parmesan. My husband said this will be our last time ever going to this restaurant. Either the "chef's" forgot how to cook or they just really don't care about quality and no longer care about producing tasty food. We have been to most all the Mexican restaurants in Antioch, Oakley, Brentwood, Pittsburgh and the Concord area. This is now on the bottom of our list, we will not...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am completely disappointed with this (Mexican restaurant). We come here for lunch for the first time we order the enchilada plate and the chicken burrito for my child and two chicken tacos. When we get the (chicken burrito) we realize the burrito is a flour tortilla with just shredded chicken. So Iām sitting here confused I tell the waiter (manager) and he tells me thatās what I ordered. I let him know I wanted a chicken burrito and he tells I had to tell them I wanted bean and rice I asked why ? Knowing that a burrito does come with bean cheese, rice, and the meat any other Mexican restaurant will do that even Taco Bell will . The burrito wasnāt even wrapped. He said that I had to tell them to wrap it. Again, confused??!!
The chicken tacos look really nasty as well and had no flavor whatsoever The tortilla was more wet than anything.
We asked for a manager and they said they have no manager on site but the waiter that was helping us had a different color shirt (brown) so he was the manager.
Although they did work with us with the bill taking out the food we did not eat .
Pricey / nasty / no real Mexican food .
Be prepared to ask to roll your burrito and for the ingredients you want because they will just give you the...
