Our first time here and never again will be coming back! My kids and I love pizza and thought we give this pizza place a try! This restaurant fails to understand the value of a customer especially when they were told this was our first time there! I understand the elderly lady and gentleman are the owners of this business who took and accepted payment for our take-out order. While we were waiting for our food, the rain came down and my two kids decided to eat in so we asked if we could instead sit and eat. The lady owner didn't seem interested in our request, even though there were at least 4 other tables still vacant, and told us to wait so she could get the tables cleaned. In the meantime, another family comes in and they were seated right away while we still waiting for our turn. Finally, we got seated, the gentleman, the owner brought our food, no water no silverware, and no napkins were brought to us! During the course of our dining, not once did the owner or any of their employees show any interest or come to ask about our meals; however, we noticed several times that they checked on other paying customers just like us at other tables. I asked the owner if we could have some water, and I was happy to pay for that (water is the first thing served without being asked at all restaurants we have been to) and he didn't seem to understand instead kept cleaning nearby tables. My daughter asked again if we could have water and still nothing. At this point I told my kids we need to leave this place as there are no words to describe the feeling when the owners themselves are not interested in having our business! Bottom line is, what made us different from the other...
Read moreThis is for the other paisans out there --- don't bother with the others in the Apex area. Mezza Luna comes out of nowhere and jumps to the top. Chicken Parm pizza -- really good. Do you know how many people fail chicken parm? Not these guys. And they put it on pizza. (Their cheesesteak hero is right too; maybe a good idea if we could sneak some broccoli rabe on there to change it up sometimes... don't you agree!? )
It's not the greasy manhattan pizza (like John's of Bleecker St., or Joe’s... )
and its not the neapolitan style (head to poole'side pies in downtown raleigh for that. but mezza luna has their "grandma pie", which is the other kind of neapolitan pizza...)
and its not new haven style (although if anyone knows a place for that around here, it would be cool)
and its not chicago style (thank god).
This is more your solid NJ / NY neighborhood pizza (Bronx style is a good description) from folks that clearly know what they are doing -- you know the type I'm talking about. If only they could bring Arthur Ave. with them down here... we need people like terranova and calabria here!
Still jumping around the menu, haven't gone wrong yet. Need to try the classic ham calzone next... these are my people. Also, it feels right when you go inside. You'll know what I mean when you go.
Mezza Luna, Utica Bakery, and NYBD III --- my NY food utility belt in...
Read moreEdited- I posted a positive review of Mezzaluna when they first opened. To say we were regular customers is an understatement! I have written reviews on Google, Next-door, and our daughter brought her friends there several times per week while she was in high school. Demonstrating we are faithful, loyal, long-term customers who eat at Mezzaluna way too much! Today we purchased a large pie and when we got home, it was extremely small. Everybody grabbed their slice, however, noticed how small it was. It was silly small. Since we were in the middle of a kitchen project, my husband grabbed his measuring tape, and it was indeed a size medium, that we were given. No big deal, right? Mistakes happen. He went back to Mezzaluna and Vic. The owner argued with him as if he was lying! As if we don’t have history of being great customers! Why would we do that? My husband left disappointed as they would not give us what we paid for which was a large, in spite of showing the measuring tape of us being given a medium. The pizza has gone downhill anyway. It was dry and lacked flavor. Not the same as it was. Lost our business, our parents business, our daughter and her friends as well. We won’t return. Shame on you taking advantage of customers. Advice? Trust that you’re highest paying and most frequent customers are telling the truth. Admit your...
