Mr. A's Beignets was the desert at a wedding my wife and I attended, and I would highly recommend these beignets to anyone in the area.
The beignets were cooked fast and fresh for the ~100 guests, so despite a long line at the truck, it was barely a wait. The beignets themselves were absolutely delicious. They were perfectly cooked and had a great amount of powdered sugar to top them, the perfect amount.
Once the wedding was over, and Mr. A was closing down his truck, we went over to talk with him. While talking with us, he made a special to go box for us to take home to our 3 year old daughter. He made finger-beignets. Mr. A told us EXACTLY what to do to reheat them this morning, and he was absolutely correct in how to do it. My daughter loved having them for breakfast!
Thank you again Mr. A! It was extremely thoughtful for you to give us that extra box and tell us how to prep it for our daughter!
Whenever I see Mr. A's Beignets, I'll be stopping by. Absolutely delicious and great atmosphere/conversations from...
Read moreThe beignets are very tasty, but I was kind of disappointed by the service at today's Durham food truck rodeo. Here's what happened...
I wanted to order 6 beignets, which are two orders of the trio, and I asked for a box since I would be taking them home. The cashier flat out said "no" and then started talking about how the food truck rodeo was not "allowing" them to use boxes because it's more environmentally friendly. Their "fix" was to put another tiny plate on top of the beignets, which messed up the powdered sugar on top. HOWEVER, like 5 mins later, I saw someone with a box of beignets. Not sure why I couldn't get one.
I think the beignets hold up better in a box, especially if someone is getting more than 3. If the food truck rodeo has specific rules on the containers needing to be environmentally friendly, this food truck should at least have a few recyclable boxes on hand for customers who specifically ask.
Again, I love the beignets, but I was not happy with the...
Read moreThis truck has visited our neighborhood more than once--and we love it! The beignets are made fresh and come out VERY hot as you would expect for something that was just fried. They are covered in powdered sugar and are delicious! You can buy three for $5 or thirteen for $20. For $1, you can add a dipping sauce fudge or caramel. They also sell chickory coffee, hot chocolate, and I think Coke products. The staff working the truck are unfailingly kind and courteous. In this time of pandemic, Mr. A's coming to our neighborhood is a real bright spot for us. This is a small business we are delighted to support, and we hope they continue to visit our neighborhood! I only wish I had a picture to post, but alas, we ate them...
