Before going to Yamota of Apex I was very excited and high very high expectations due to its 4.9 rating online, basically the highest rated restaurant in the area, Its a dive of a place but inside was clean, the wait staff was friendly and attentive. However the prices were a little ridiculous. My family and I went for lunch on a Sunday, I ordered the filet and chicken combo. To put things in perspective my mother who ordered just hibachi chicken her meal cost something around $6-7 which for lunch is very appropriate. For the amount of food she got (vegetables, chicken, rice, shrimp sauce, and soup) that is a fantastic price. The chicken is alright, I wouldn't call it high quality but it's a cut above most places chicken. My complaint lies mostly with my meal. Like I said I ordered filet and chicken combo. The steak and chicken lunch combo is around $10 I believe. Since I got Filet it was an additional $8 ON TOP OF the steak price. I can buy an entire 6oz filet for $8! It was cooked like I had asked (Medium rare) but it was not worth much more than a few dollars more than steak. Very disappointed with it not because it was bad but because of how much it cost. My meal cost $20 for myself alone for lunch which is ridiculous. For that price I could go to a nice steakhouse. It was a good Japanese restaurant in the area, not the best and certainly not worth the 4.9 rating it currently has but I overall had a nice experience and I will be returning just not ordering the filet again. Would definitely recommend eating here if you have not yet tried it. Good food for a good price unless...
Read moreSo, the sushi's solid The hibachi is very good. The waiters and waitresses are young but are obviously learning and doing their best to serve the employees and make a good impression. If I were to stop there, this would probably be a 4 star rating. However, two things make me give this place five stars: (1) the value and (2) the ownership. Sure, you can pay $15-$20 for some really fancy and probably slightly better sushi. You could also pay $22-$30 for hibachi and a show at one of the larger Japanese steakhouses. But, given the quality of the food and the prices, I just really feel good about what I get for my money here. Regarding the ownership, a mistake was made one time with my pick-up order. Something was completely left out, but I didn't notice until I got home. When I called to notify them, the person who answered told me I could either come pick it up or they'd just drop the charges for that item. I opted for the latter since I didn't feel like going back out. About five minutes later, I get a phone call from the owner... profusely apologizing, saying the mistake was inexcusable, and deciding to comp our entire meal (complete dinner for two). I couldn't believe he would take the time to do that, but it proved to me how much he valued loyalty TO his customers. Displaying such service and loyalty is rewarded in-kind, as we try to go at least once a month, if not more. Yamato is the kind of family-friendly small businesses I...

Very consistent husband & wife team who both cook & prepare a proper environment for a visiting person.
Food : Highly recommend the chicken teriyaki. The teriyaki glaze, is perfection. The taste is spot on, without saturation of flavors or that taste of bitterness.
The hibachi steak, might be my favorite because it holds that elegance in tenderness & flavor. You can taste the rich quality in some foods that are served to you.
While the fried rice is not actually fried rice like you would get at a Japanese grill house, it is of appropriate portions for those who are calorie conscious & wanting to just feel full, instead of bloated.
Their half and half tea is exceptional, great pricing as well.
If you have children, they will love the ranch, the rice & chicken/steak options.
All main course orders, come with a vegetable that cannot be changed so you have to be made aware of that. For example; some steak choices only come with onions sauted. Others come with mushrooms or with broccoli.
