i'm really torn a bit with this place- i want to like it because it's a vegan restaurant.. i kind of liked my "kitchen burger" (the sauce on it wasn't the greatest- it had an odd taste); my daughter got the mac/cheese and broccoli which she said tasted like pizza (she liked it for that reason, but was a little too spicy for her liking); my son got the "vegan pizza" that came with "fajita veggies" (which i assumed just meant green bell peppers and onions- i did not realize they were seasoned as such) the disappointment on his face had me gutted (he was very excited for his vegan pizza).. upon further inspection of this "pizza" i came to realize the crust was just a giant burrito sized tortilla shell with sauce, i think it had some refried beans on it, fajita veggies, and a light sprinkling of cheddar cheese- this "pizza" tasted like a fajita.. i don't know if we'll ever go back here (this was our second time- our first experience too was so-so) i personally may give it one last try but i know i won't ever take my kids (age 12 and 10) here again.. i spent about $45 here on just us three, about $10-15 per person (one item per person, no drinks).. i wanted to give this place at least three stars but as i was typing this i remembered how bad that "pizza" was, and the fact that it was the most expensive item i bought- he didn't eat it (he doesn't like fajita seasoning).. nor did it even look appealing (see photos),, also my burger was really chewy- in a rubbery way, like it was overcooked..
very nice person that took my order though!! she gets five stars-- just the...
Read moretheir catering is awesome! my husband & i hosted a dinner for 18 people & ordered 7 items: Beyti Kebab, Falafel, Hummus, Parsley Lime Rice, Mix Salad, Stuffed Grape Leaves, & Baklava. everything tasted absolutely delicious & everyone said they really enjoyed the food! some of our guests were family members visiting from abroad, so they got to try Mediterranean food for the first time. we're glad we got to introduce them to the cuisine as well as to vegan food too. the Beyti Kebab especially was such a crowd pleaser - it was the most loved item & some guests were surprised at how meat-like it was!
communications with Getachew of Vegan Community Kitchen regarding the catering was super easy & direct from the start. they made the process simple & fuss-free for us, from deciding on our menu, to payment, and to picking up the food. the catering trays were packaged really well & the portions were generous - more than enough for 18 people & we had leftovers for a few days so everyone was very happy about that :)
overall an incredibly smooth, wonderful experience with Vegan Community Kitchen - we thank you all & appreciate your service so very much! i highly recommend them for catering if you're looking into...

Dinner for two at this location on a Friday evening. The experience eclipsed my expectation. We were greeted with a smile and kindness.
We shared the Mac N Cheese broccoli bake. I forgot that there's a difference between "vegan" and "vegetarian", therefore there's no cheese in the Mac N cheese. But was pleasantly surprised at their interpretation.
I had a cheeseburger and sweet potatoes fries. My wife had a taco...can't remember what side.
We both ordered the hibiscus tea(I highly recommend you try!!!) She ordered a take home desert.
Total on the meal for two was $55, inclusive of a 10%tip.
Overall a great meal experience!!! We will be eating here again and again and again.
Downside is small... On chilly nights I could see were it would be tough people who hate the cold. Wasn't cold, but cool from time to time. Thankfully that's only 7.5% of the NC experience
They get a lot of take out orders, the door is always opening and closing. Also food isn't as good reheated. Mac n Cheese reheated well, cheeseburger didn't. Froze my Hibiscus tea, thawed and had in the...
