My wife and I spent one night here on a Sunday at the start of October 2023. Upon arrival, we were assigned to a room on the third floor, but reaching that room, we found it was right beside the elevator and ice machine, directly the opposite of what my room preferences on Marriott request. So back down we went to the reception desk. The clerk there was apologetic about the assignment and amused that somehow we had been assigned exactly the opposite of what we had requested in a hotel that clearly was not full. Our next (and final) room was on the second floor, as far from the elevator and ice machine as possible. Good recovery! We gave them a 4.5 for service, with a half-point deduction for the initial bungle.|Our room was large, with a sofa, desk, and large-screen TV. Bathroom was huge, as was the walk-in closet. Only ding here was that the big-screen TV was actually too large for its wallmount, making it impossible to pivot it far enough to be viewed by the far bed, and even a sharp viewing angle for the nearest bed. We gave the room a 4, mostly for its spaciousness. The mattress on the bed was adequate for my bad back without my traveling bedboard, so I gave it a 3.5.|The location of the hotel, with easy off and back on for Route 1 was excellent. It is located a short distance from lots of Raleigh dining and shopping spots, so it is good. And it is far enough out of Raleigh that our departure Monday morning was unharried and easy. So location gets a 5.|Breakfast Monday had small quiches that were tasty, a breakfast sandwich that was warm and good, juices, yogurts, and the like. The coffee was only average, however. This felt like a better breakfast than average, so we gave it a 4. |Our one night cost us $126, which seems a good price for a nice room so near Raleigh. We gave it a 5 on value.|So, to summarize: 4.5 for service, 4 for room, 3.5 for bed, 5 for location, 4 for breakfast, and 5 for value. That averages out to 4.3, so we assigned it a 4.|We think this will become our new place to stay when...
Read moreLet me paint you a picture of this hotel, a place that manages to be both refreshingly practical and delightfully pleasant. The rooms are spacious enough to spread out like royalty and so clean you might think a team of secret elves snuck in overnight to scrub every surface.
The breakfast spread is a highlight worth waking up for, offering enough variety to please both the avocado-toast crowd and the bacon-and-eggs traditionalists. It’s the kind of morning lineup that actually puts you in a good mood to start your day.
Location-wise, this spot really hits the sweet spot, close enough to everything you want to see, but not smack-dab in the middle of the chaos. About 23 minutes from the RDI departure area.
Complimentary parking and free breakfast help you dodge those annoying extra charges that hotels love to sneak in, which feels like a small act of mercy for your wallet, although the in-house snacks and toiletries are a bit expensive.
And the staff? Genuinely friendly, the sort of folks who seem happy to see you instead of treating you like another number. You can tell they take pride in keeping the place well cared for and running smoothly, which makes the whole experience that much better.
Bottom line, if you’re looking for a solid, well-run hotel that combines practical perks with a warm welcome, this one’s easy...
