First, I've always loved Gingerootz: The dine-in service and phone service have always been exceptional, however, someone in the kitchen is seriously dropping the ball when it comes to food prep. - hence the one star for my carry-out order on Thursday, August 27th. If I could give it less than one star - I honestly would.
I called in a late order and was excited that they took orders until 9p, for that was exceptional customer service indeed, but to arrive home and open up my General Tso's chicken and find what I found is shocking! A STAPLE! A STAPLE inside the SEALED container of General Tso's?! How?! I was famished, ticked off, and shocked all at the same time. I took the staple (A STAPLE?!) off the top of the chicken and very carefully consumed my late dinner. I chose not to call the manager that night as I know I would've likely said things I would've later regretted. I wouldn't want someone doing that to me, so I opted to cool down first.
I was (& still am) so disgusted over this and have been wanting to stop in and speak directly with the owners /manager, however, it was too late that night and I've been busy and simply just too angry to speak to anyone about this directly.
I've always loved Gingerootz when I've dined in, & this makes the second (& worst!) carry-out experience I've ever had at Gingerootz or any restaurant EVER! I've had some very acceptable carry-out orders from there, but this really does it for me. I will NEVER order carry-out from your restaurant again. Believe it or not, I'll still consider eating at Gingerootz - my friends think otherwise after this experience though. I can't deny that I love your food but I'm also kinda afraid to eat it now. I was 'lucky (!?) this time' to find the staple on top of the food, but where will it be if I choose to dine-in at your restaurant?! Where will it be the next time someone else opts to order carry-out from your restaurant??
I LOVE your food - especially the General Tso's, however, please do something about the extremely poor carry-out service / prep. The crab rangoons were mushy, the General Tso's chicken, in addition to the staple on top (a flipping staple!?) was just so wrong... The chicken fried rice had clearly been sitting around far too long. There was nothing right about my dinner. I only live 10 minutes away at most and there just wasn't one thing right about my dinner this night. It's almost as if, because I called in near closing, I had gotten the bottom of the barrel scrapings of everything. To a degree I guess I can kinda understand given the time I phoned in my order, but still...
I even stated to the gentleman who gave me my order - my concern whether it was still hot as I had said I couldn't be there until 920p - maybe even 925p when I placed my phone order, but I had unexpectedly gotten there at 915p. So from the time I phoned in (about 850p) until 915p, it would appear my order had already sitting around. I love speed of service and all, but when one's order is already bagged up - and stapled shut - I guess, I'd rather have waited until my requested pick-up time vs a premature order. I was so excited for General Tso's from Gingerootz, I ordered some cheesecake when I arrived as I wanted this to dinner to be extra enjoyable, but this is just too much.
If you're going to be stapling your food near your orders that's about to go out the door - at least do it a few feet away and good Lord, make sure the containers are already sealed before your stapler malfunctions - or whatever happened to cause this...
Read moreI was WOW'd by how terrible my meal was last night! This place has seriously given up on their standard of service and quality of food. I had just gotten done waiting on table all afternoon at a very busy local restaurant and had not eaten all day so I was very excited to eat my favorite dish and be taken care of. We arrived at the restaurant and unfortunately was left standing at the host station for at least 4 minutes. I thought this must be because they are extremely busy behind the curtain hiding the dining area. When we were greeted, we were met by a very friendly, cheerful young lady with beautiful curly hair (you know who you are). We were led to our table and that's when all the problems atarted. Our server seemed rushed even though it was not busy at all. We ordered our drinks and those arrived in a timely manner (although my friend had to ask for his beer glass twice.. no biggie). We put in our order for food which included appetizers. 20 minutes later I'm informed that most of what we've ordered in out of stock. 20 minutes later. We both had to then make a decision to order items we didnt necessarily want to eat which was a big disappointment. Our server also then asks us "would you like your appetizers now?". Ummm, yeah. I would like them before the meal because I haven't eaten all day and they are APPETIZERS! Hello! Yes, we want them! My friend was not a fan of his egg drop soup and said it tasted "oily". How do you mess up egg drop soup? While waiting for our entrees, I could see a table of 7-8 peoples' meals sitting under the heating lamp for what seemed like at least 10 minutes on a serving tray. When the food was served you could see that film on top of the food which happens after sitting under a heat lamp. I was not impressed. Our entrees arrived and honestly the sauce on my dish tasted like nothing. Not even soy sauce could help their "white sauce". Disgusting. My friend enjoyed his entree so that was good. My last issue was our server couldn't handle more than one dish at a time so virtually no pre-bussing. My friend even asked the server to remove empty plates from our two-top table to which he replied " in a minute". We were flabbergasted. I just got done providing a high level of service and then I come here and I was provided lack luster service and mediocre food. This was the last straw in regards to customer service. The last two times I've cane in prior to this visit I was treated like scum by one of your managers, Nikki, for no reason. I hope people find other options for their dining needs -- there are much better Asian dining establishments...
Read moreTheir food is decent, but their delivery service seems to be quite lacking. We ordered from them tonight. Nothing too wild, just three meals and a side. They quoted us an hour, and it arrived just after that. Nothing to complain about there. However, we were missing the meat for one of the meals. We received some other rice dish instead. Also were missing the side ordered. This is after asking them to double check the order before it is sent because not two months ago we ordered delivery. They dropped off a chicken meal, when tofu was ordered, and my wife is vegetarian. Anyway, I called them to tell them that we were missing the part of our order, they got a manager on the phone and discussed the order. Said they would get the chicken out right away. If the driver is in it'll be to you in 15 minutes (I guess they only have one delivery driver). Also, offered a credit on our next order which is appreciated. Must've been 25-30 minutes and a vehicle pulls in and out of my driveway. Then I get a call 10 minutes later that it spilled in transit and they had to remake it again. I had them on speaker phone and my wife and friend just start laughing, trying to hold it in. C'mon, for real? At this point it is just ridiculous. She said they were refunding that entre meal back to my card and they would have it back out again in another 15 minutes. There just needs to be some quality checks happening here prior to delivery. It spilling in delivery, was just my luck. However, if they just sent out the right order it would have all been fine. Also to note - the container had my correct order written on it. The contents were incorrect. At least they were nice, offered some compensation, but it was over an hour after the rest of the food was there. 3 stars, because they took care of the situation, refunded it, offered a credit even though I got the food super late.
Point is check your order before the driver leaves. That is what we will...
