We had a group of six and sat up front next to the register it took a bit to be acknowledged, then we had a guy take our order who had never taken orders before, he did wonderfully and kept apologizing for the inconvenience but we kept reassuring he was doing good and it was not a problem. After taking our order a waitress was going to put our order into the computer and started yelling at the guy who took our order (he forgot to ask a couple questions and I’m guessing didn’t write a couple things down correctly, not a big deal) she was belittling him and being very rude which was directly in front of us we felt very bad. Would also like to point out that not once did she come to help take our order or offer any assistance, instead she just kept walking by giving rude facial expressions and then chose to yell at our server for not getting it right in front of us. After that situation the lady went to bring my food out, I ordered the cookies and cream stuffed French toast, part of the cookie fell off the top and the waitress literally grabbed it out of the whipped cream and shoved it back on the top with her bare hands. I was about to ask her if she really did that when she put my plate in front of me and before I could finish she realized what she did said yes I did sorry and then continued to grab the cookie again with her bare hands off my plate. When we went to give the guy who took our order a tip because he did such a wonderful job he then told the cook, he seemed very excited which warmed our hearts, then the cook instead had him put his hard earned tip in the box meant to be split between the waitress and him. When we gave the tip for the cook he pocketed his instantly. He assured us the guy would get his tip but we weren’t very convinced considering how we seen them treat him earlier. We really hope he got the hard earned money he deserved and that the waitress who was very rude and disgusting not only towards us but her fellow employees gets recognized for her horrible service and demeanor...
Read moreWhere do I even start? My girlfriend and I went on a Tuesday night (tonight) at 11:25pm. We finally got our waters 15 minutes after ordering them. Had to go up and ask for straws, too. Would’ve been sort of understandable if it was packed, but there were only 3 other tables there being used. Then after ordering our food, we waited another 30 minutes with no one checking in on us during this time. Our waitress FINALLY came back only to (and this is the best part) hand us our check and ask if we would like any dessert. Which we reply to, “Well, we haven’t gotten our food yet, soooo.” Then she stands there awkwardly for a good minute not knowing what to say and just says, “Oh ya, I should’ve known that.” Then walks away. Doesn’t say sorry or offer us a discount for the confusion and terribly long wait. 15 minutes after this (total of 50 minutes after we ordered) the food finally came out. My girlfriend ordered over easy eggs and someone must’ve mistaken that with raw eggs because there was actual raw egg whites on her plate and on top of the egg. While we were finishing up our food, our waitress and her waitress in training (so the only two in the building) literally sat down on the concrete in front the building on the other side of the window from where we were sitting to smoke a cigarette. Never asked us how our food was, if we needed anything, etc. So the cook had to take our bill. The only other regret I have other then going to this place again (since the last time we went the service was bad, but actually tolerable) was that I left them a $1 tip rather than nothing. Also, what’s concerning is that this is the example being set for the waitress in training as what is...
Read moreI'd like to tell you all about the greatest greasy spoon in the valley. I have been coming to this place since it was George Webb's. It holds a special place in my heart; along with the stories, hopes, and dreams of a peculiar cast of characters. It has a family beneath the hustle and bustle of clanking plates, the ready bell, and drone of conversation. Many may not know, but the diner is now under the new ownership of Remmy, and Becky. But many of us regulars knew they were destined to own it all along. It has been said that the counter is the best seating in the house for dinner and a show. The husband-wife squabbles could stand with even the greatest Broadway comedies. Knowing them has been one of the greatest honors of my life. And maybe if you are lucky, you too can have your jacket pockets filled with sprinkles, or car saran wrapped as you eat. :P
The food is great! The southwest scrambler is to die for. Or Becky's famous cobb salad. Many new specials and menu items to come in the future. Remmy, and Miss Lori have never cooked me a bad meal. Becky, and Miki's service has always been top notch. Your coffee cup is never empty. If you are reading this, you should stop in and give it a shot. You will not be disappointed. Words can't describe how much the people here mean to me, and the Appleton community. Tell your kids! Tell your wife! Come on down to LDX!!!!
Also a special shout out to someone we all hold dear to us, Dennis. We will...
