Decided to stop in to Min Du for lunch. It was my first time trying this place out so I was prepared for anything. When I arrived, I was immediately seated, and promptly asked what I wanted to drink.
The buffet offered a small selection of entrees, fruit, 2 soups, a cookie, rice, shumai, noodles, and a small selection of sushi (unlabeled). I started to make my plate, however, I soon realized most of the food options were not stocked, and it seemed like most of what was out had been sitting for a while. Throughout the time I was there, I had to make multiple trips to the counter ever time that I saw they brought something out, due to the fact that a lot of what should’ve been there— wasn’t. Maybe I had come in after a huge rush, but the place was very small and it didn't seem too busy.
Every time I would go up, I would return and my plate would be gone. I assumed that the staff had taken it away. Eventually, after about my 5th time needing to go back up to the buffet, a waiter came up to me and asked me if something was wrong. I was a little shocked because I hadn’t made any implication that I had an issue. I proceeded to say no, and he then commented about how I kept going up for more, as if it was not something I should be doing. (I would finish everything on my plate before going up for more).
He then very promptly walked into the kitchen and didn’t return for the rest of my meal. I honestly was shocked that he had asked me this, as I assumed the buffet was all you can eat. Perhaps this assumption was wrong.
When I checked out, I also was charged the dinner price, which was only a dollar more, so I didn’t pay much attention to it until I realized after the fact that I paid what I had been charged. I arrived at 1:15 pm and stayed till about 1:50. Their dinner/lunch price and times were not labeled so maybe their dinner price started at 1:00, but I think that would be a very early time to start.
Overall, not a very good experience. The food was just ok, cooked thoroughly, but some options lacked flavour and others were spicy and weren’t...
Read moreOkay, so I looked this place up and thought, alright, it's gonna be a cheap buffet, with mediocre food like most buffets that rush orders to make sure food is always out. And the buffet looks a bit small in pictures, but it's only 4 minutes away and it's snowing. So let's just go here. But I was completely wrong!! I mean, it did cost only 19$ for both my boyfriend and I, and our daughter (under 1). And they did only have one bar out besides the sushi bar, but that had literally soooo many different variations of super amazing looking food.. they just put out a little bit at a time, so you know the food is alllllllways fresh. And it all looked so good I tried to have a little bit of everything before I got full, and each entree was Soo packed full of flavor, it wasn't even slightly bland like most buffets. I literally thought I accidentally went to an expensive five star restaurant. I've been to so many Chinese buffets across the country and this was literally the first time I was shocked about the amazing taste from my first bite. Especially the Teriyaki chicken! They even garnished it with onion. Those chefs must be working so hard. And the staff was super friendly saying they were so happy we were there. Like no, IM, so happy to be here!! The sushi was the more simple kind of sushi, but still good. But everything else was 100%. I can't wait to go back there again. I'm...
