Dunn Brothers Coffee — Restaurant in Arden Hills

I used to love going here and supporting a local business. But the past three times I've gone the service has been really salty. The atmosphere way too loud inside( live music too loud). Not enough seating. This last trip I ordered via drive through. The gal could not get my drink order right and was rude (I was being polite). I had to gently correct her 3xs. When I got my drink it was horrible. They used sugar free syrup (had to correct her twice on just that), and no chocolate. It tasted like chemical trash. Had to come around again and asked them to make another. She still couldn't get it right so I had to just ask for a mocha. All I wanted was a regular mocha with some hazelnut. Being a freelance writer, I have logged 100s of hours (maybe thousands) in local coffee shops over the past eight years. This place is always clean. There is typically lots of people, kids, meetings, and more happening here, which I love because I thrive on background activity when I write. Strange, I know, but it energizes my work. The coffee is top notch, roasted daily at the store. My "usual" is a latte. Most coffee shops put too much milk in their latte's, killing the strong espresso flavor that I appreciate so much. The folks here have somehow found the right balance of milk and coffee, and it matters when you pay a premium price for a beverage. I don't rate 5 stars very often, I usually have to be very impressed. This specific DB has an exceptional staff, well thought out floor plan, modernly decorated and very clean (esp the bathrooms) which I really enjoy whenever I'm at a facility that serves food.

I sat outside at DB for the first time and it was a great experience! The space is fairly small but it just felt so great to be outside. I actually asked the staff to set up the chairs and table and they were really accommodating. I hope in the days to come they'll be able to put up a few umbrellas.
