Start off by saying Ive been in the service industry for a long time. I have a lot of grace and empathy for servers and establishments knowing it is challenging at times. Last night, we all came in hoping for a great experience, with some of us not even receiving our food. At first the server apologized and said our food would be out shortly there was a mix up made halfway through everyone else’s meal. (When we weren’t even the last to order) After other family members received dessert, I politely went to the server to please box up our missing orders so we could just eat at home. 30 minutes later he started to hand out checks with our meals still not ready. When we said something, he immediately said well I just thought you wanted them to go. Yes I did but after the fact everyone had already eaten. The gave us 2 dollars off each meal, and continued to act like after 1.5 of waiting we wanted this stuff to go since the beginning. Taking ownership of his mistake would have been the right thing to do and even after that 2.00 dollars off was not acceptable. I would not recommend for big groups they cannot handle that kind of volume. Management was there and still no words of apologizes from them. If you want to have a good night, I would find...
Read moreAfter a beautiful mountain drive to "Hacienda Lealtad" in Lares, we visited la "La Quira" in Arecibo. I won't speak to the environs where it is located. The restaurant service staff was prompt, friendly and very professional. The facility is well laid out...comfortable and cozy... and the bathrooms were clean. The menu features caribbean influenced fare and is moderately priced...although there are some higher prices.
My wife had a modestly priced Mofongo with chicken breast which was delish! I went with the not so modestly priced house specialty; 6 Large shrimps glazed with a savory white creme sitting on a bed of Churrasco placed inside half an avocado astride a base of majado (mashed local roots) itself sitting on a flavorful sauce. My food was made by a culinary magician! It was one of the best meals I have ever had and the best Puerto Rican inspired cuisine ever...sorry Mom. The shrimps were ample, the churrasco was cooked exactly how i asked for it...the surpise was how well the avocado and the majado blended with everything making my description of the meal as "Simply Perfection!" Worth every penny...
If you're ever in the area of Arecibo, on your own or with a tour, make sure to stop by "La Quira" you...
Read moreGood food. Not too pricey. We were seated right away because it was almost empty, however, it did get full quickly. The waitress did explain the menu and we ordered our drinks. We were seated before a group of 6 but that group got their drinks and appetizers before we got our drinks. Another thing we didn't like was that soda fountain drinks were not free refills and this was not told to us. So when we got our bill we thought it was mistake. They told us that this time of year it wasn't free and no adjustments were made. So I would ask before getting a refill. Overall all, the food was good and it didn't take long to get to us. I feel like it took longer for the drinks...
