El Patron Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Arizona

Worst experience I've ever had. Normally I'm not very compelled to leave a review unless it was really good or really bad. We are fairly low maintenance customers. We ask for what we need immediately and usually need nothing else during the meal. The service my husband and I received today was ridiculous. The girl who waited on us didn't bring the hot salsa even after being reminded, and she walked away while i was attempting to ask for something. My husband ordered a shot that he never got, which was the only alcoholic beverage he ordered, and dont even get me started on the sangria. It was advertised with fruit and it came with none and was bitter. The shrimp that my husband ordered had a very strong fish smell and didn't taste right, but because she didn't check on us for 10 minutes after we received the order, he had nothing to eat, and she didn't even have the mind to ask if their was something else he wanted off of the menu. She just took the plate and walked away, after changing the TV channel. I will never come back here. And people wonder why their parking area is...

I dined at El Patron while visiting from out of town and was completely impressed with the service. Upon entering the restaurant it was surprising there was only one other table of customers during Saturday night dinner, but we received EXCELLENT service. By far, one of the most impressive servers. He did a fantastic job on keeping on-top of everything about our meal. I never actually got my water below half empty before he was asking to fill it up again! I normally don't take the time to write lengthy reviews, but I was completed shocked by this individual. Sadly I do not remember his name, but I would not hesitate to visit again. We used to love this place and the food. However tonight we were seated at 4:57 and when the waitress came to get our drink order we wanted the Happy Hour Marguerita. It had just turned to 5:00 and she refused to honor the Happy Hour price so we just ordered water and skipped the drinks. When we recieved our food the carne asada burrito was cold inside and my chile relleno was the worst one I had ever had. On the flip side the chicken fajita's and green chile tamale were good. We didn't want to say anything because a friend was taking us out to dinner. We had been surprised at how empty it was when we came in but now wonder maybe this is the reason?
