I have been visiting various Jerry Bob's locations throughout Tucson and the surrounding area for decades, each location is different and unique. Various locations easily prove themselves better then others but in the end, it's the level of customer service and staff interaction that separates each location from the others. The food is consistently never great and it's equally never bad. Jerry Bob's routinely serves a decent but unimpressive breakfast at a highly reasonable price. I've waited several weeks to write this review as l needed time to fully ponder my visit. I arrived to find the building in good order, free of any noticable defects. I experienced a warm welcome by the staff upon entry, unfortunately this would later prove to be the only positive and genuinely warm staff interaction I would receive. Once seated I found my table clean in appearance only, as it became immediately noticably dirty, tacky and sticky. Requesting the server to readdress the table and wipe it down again apparently proved excessively demanding, quickly turning into a less then friendly, almost hostile or confrontational vibe, this level of disdain would become a reoccurring theme for the remainder of my visit. After a fresh pot had brewed, my decaf soon arrived and was perhaps one of the finest cups of decaf in recent memory. While the coffee was exceptionally good, l somehow managed to obtain the absolute perfect ratio of creamer and sweetener, something that's always close but rarely reaches the level of absolute perfection. Despite my best efforts, sadly I missed the same level of perfection on the next cups resulting in good but not great coffee in comparison to that first cup of heavenly perfection. Despite the menu being simple and rather straightforward, it all sounded good so I was indecisive, distracted by daily specials, this seemed to further irritate my server to no end. Despite the place being sparsely occupied, l felt the service was slow and needlessly almost deliberately delayed. Food was good, but as expected it fell short of being great. Traditionally outside of the eggs, nothing is made from scratch here. It's simply premade institutional quality frozen or prepackaged food that's reheated and pawned off as fresh homemade. The chicken fried steak is nothing special, a factory produced Costco clone frozen puck covered in reconstituted prepackaged powered gravy. My hash browns were lacking and required loads of salt, while EXCESSIVELY oily were simply delightful in flavor once salted. It's unfortunate as real food isn't extremely difficult to produce and offers a far superior end product. I ordered over easy eggs and instead I received eggs that l immediately sent back upon presentation, as they were obviously overcooked to the point that I considered them to be fried hard. Sending back the eggs naturally further irritated my server. Sometimes it's the little things that ruin everything else. My employment requires that l work outside, so in addition to decaf, l drink large amounts of water just to keep myself well hydrated, I don't just drink water, I drink lots of it. Keeping my water refreshed soon proved problematic, once again increasing my servers irritation . I felt any attempt by the already visibly annoyed server to keep my water filled was deliberately slow walked in this arena. While I'd gladly return again, this location isn't going to be my first choice. I just felt the entire operation was disjointed almost to the point of being out of step with itself. While l didn't feel the server was on a war footing she definitely wasn't my friend. I really felt it was childish to develop an attitude over drinking what she perceived as excessive water. Personally l just would have brought multiple glasses or left the pitcher but that's me. Despite the entire experience suffering from mediocre service, I'd willingly return to this Tucson original again...

Emily’s dad suggested we go to Jerry Bob’s for breakfast but declined to join us since he wasn’t feeling like eating out for a morning meal. We hopped in the car and headed out for breakfast!
Somehow we ended up at one of the Jerry Bob’s across town instead of the one close to her parents. We walked in it and quickly took a seat while a lone waitress serviced the few tables she had. Em and I ordered some coffees and looked over the menus. Nothing on the menu really stood out until we both looked at this whiteboard on the wall behind me that said Breakfast Quesadilla with Beans and Salsa. Both our eyes lit up and that’s what we ordered. You can substitute the refried beans with hash browns, which is what I did.
And just like that, our quesadillas were out and in front of us. When I saw the waitress bring our plates out, my eyes nearly popped out of my head. These things were not just massive but felt like they needed a second plate to hold them up.
We dug in and both commented that we could’ve just ordered one and split it easily. But since we didn’t know when we would eat again since we flew out that afternoon, we dug in and ate as much as we could. The salsa and lettuce/tomato topping that came with it, I would open the ‘dilla and put them in and maybe that’s sacrilege to some but wow… it really kicked up the flavor a few notches. I even had some leftover salsa at the end and ate it by itself. It was some of the best I had and it has this nice little kick to it that let you know its there without hurting.
I will say I was thrown off by the interior of this location. The walls had mostly an americana theme going for it but it seemed just randomly placed without much thought. Kinda of like when a diner does the americana theme but this location had a lot of bareness on the walls. But, that’s not really here nor there. Just a silly observation on my part.
Overall, I am glad Dave recommended this place. The quesadilla held me over until we got home and even then, I felt like I only ate out of it being like 12 hours since I had anything to eat.
Jerry Bob’s… you do one hell of...
Read moreI'm on here setting the record straight. I have been told that my former Employer and employees/co-workers have been saying that I got fired for stealing money. However this couldn't be farther from false. I worked here for 16 years. Any regulars know that I work my tail off for this place going above and beyond. I worked in every department of this place. I worked hours that I didn't even put on the time clock. I put more hours in here than I did at home. For anyone to say such a lie about me is absurd. I never in my life have disrespected a place I worked. I would never do such a thing. How dare an owner/employer say something like that or tell her employees something that is so false. How dare an owner whom doesn't even invest enough time in her store to help out be able to make such statements and get away with it. The owner and the employees making such statements have no proof of this and shouldn't be able to get away with these lies. So to any of the customers wondering what happened, don't listen to their lies. I quite because I don't deserve to be treated such a way after 16 years. I quite because the owner told me that "I'm running the store into the ground." Yet I'm the one who was trying to keep that place afloat. I'm the one who put more hours in that place than anyone else. I'm the one who actually had customers say to me "I hope your boss knows what she has with you and how much you do for her." If you visit this place please know that these are lies they are...
