Would advise avoiding unless you are completely new to Vietnamese and want a tourist experience, or youâre local and trying to keep Vietnamese restaurants in the area . If so, I would recommend rice or noodle dishes, and I trust that their Boba will please tourists.
Firstly, I suspect that it is hard for Vietnamese restaurants to âmake itâ in Missouri compared with Mainstream American restaurants. So, Iâm happy they are here for the community, yet hope they improve. The fact that they had all garnishes for pho (including fresh bean sprouts) in Missouri reflects well upon them.
Was served beef pho more lukewarm than hot and tasting rather stale, which made me wonder if it was (re)warmed up several times/days. Hoisin and Sriracha sauce came pre-portioned and was knock-off brand. I am not local, so Iâm not used to the local water. Yet, it tasted dirty. Server poured some water and a few small melted ice cubes, so in effect I had Luke-warm water for the majority should I dare to drink. They served lukewarm green tea that was ordered to be hot, to discover that they microwaved it in a styrofoam to-go cup. I asked for a refund for the tea, and the server brought a receipt reflecting such but without the money in return; honest mistake, yet icing on the cake: the server is used to refunding cards. They collected money upfront before serving (which rubs me especially as anti-Vietnamese cuisine culture) and for what they are serving, I found the prices to be overcharging. Servers are polite, yet what they are working with makes it hard and awkward for being a gracious host as well as a gracious guest. I think that I was served a spoon and fork so had to ask for chop sticks.
I was traveling between Chicago and Little Rock and wanted a meal that was grounding and giving my soul and body a moment to breath. If you are like me, you might choose another spot? If youâre local, I encourage you to visit and make any ensuing recommendations so they become stronger in the community. Also, I visited the afternoon before Thanksgiving, so trust it may have been hard to gauge how many customers they might get.
The atmosphere is like âplastic kitty/pop/etc.â NOT grounding like a âhole-in-the-wall,â classy traditional nor modern chic. For me, the food is the main attestation, and the atmosphere comes next, with service driving the aforementioned âhome.â Overall score pulled low because, for me, there are some items in a Vietnamese restaurant that fundamentally should be solid [ex: Pho, spring rolls, Vietnamese coffee,...
Read moreEdit: i just tried Vietnamese coffee somewhere else and it made my appreciation and respect for this place increase tenfold.
This place is a hidden gem. Itâs rare to find foreign cuisine in Jefferson county that isnt heavily Americanized, but this place is the real deal. Despite having a very limited food menu, I find myself coming back here more and more. Thatâs saying a lot as someone who doesnât even like Boba. Delicious Pho, delicious egg rolls, fantastic service, good prices, and their Vietnamese coffee is very good and not overly sweet as some places do (Vietnamese coffee has condensed milk so itâs fairly sweet no matter what, but you still get lots of coffee flavor is what i mean).
Iâve been to 45 states and this is still the best broth Ive had. Their Pho is better than any cold remedy, it even soothes a sore throat despite being hot and potentially spicy depending on how much sriracha you put.
Hands down best Pho in Missouri, maybe even a wider region. Better AND cheaper than Pho Grand. The only possible complaint is that there arenât more food options, but what they already have is tasty enough to justify not needing to add more.
The service is also very quick. You will be served hot and fresh food within 7 minutes or so regardless of what you order.
I cant speak on their boba as I prefer my beverages to be without balls, but my sister absolutely loves this placeâs boba, and she can be kinda picky. Take...
Read moreBeing from the west coast I have been to many high quality Pho restaurants. Visiting my hometown I discovered this little Gem. My sister told me about it and we went for it. It did not disappoint. Although the menu is limited it has what most people go to a Pho place to eat and that is Pho. A really good Pho at that, served by really nice people who take pride in their food and your experience. We were also pleased to get the background on the Pho broth cooking process that apparently takes 6 hours to prepare with real spices and absolutely no shortcuts which means it has no MSG. So, in summary a great place to depend on when you get a craving for a nice hot bowl of Pho. And if you want to introduce a friend or family member who has never had Pho you will open their eyes (and mouth) to a whole new culinary world , which in this part of the country is...
