#1 or #2? I say you must #2, and I'm not referring to poo.
Occupying the former home of Kariya BBQ & Shabu Shabu, Red Palace 2 is Red Palace's second location in the area. My main complaint for the original location on South & Bloomfield is how cramped the restaurant is. Not anymore! Red Palace 2 has space galore! Just what I need while I undergo my meat sweats. Celebrating my sister-in-law's birthday, we visited for an early weekend dinner.
KBBQ prices start at $11.99, which includes- pork belly, chicken, squid, brisket, pork steak, marinated pork steak, small intestines, bulgogi, spicy chicken, pork bulgogi, spicy pork, beef belly.
Being seated right away at the table closest to the entrance, we were greeted with Red Palace 2's banchan offerings, raring to go.
My usual choices from the KBBQ cheap option are brisket & pork belly. The brisket were sliced thin, making it easy to cook, and the bellies were thick slabs in need of scissors for faster cooking time. For $11.99, the meat quality was good & we had quite a few empty plates cleared during our time spent eating at Red Palace 2.
Service was good. The staff were quick to assist us, whether it be another request for meat, banchan or a grill change. Ample seating via booths & tables, which can accommodate large groups.
Parking is via a private lot. Red Palace 2 is located in the same plaza as Formosan Restaurant, and is directly behind Thailicious.
2! 2! 2! 2 for me & 2 for you! Red Palace 2 takes what is good about Red Palace & literally expands it with more dining space. The various banchan were good, especially the macaroni salad, and the meat were delicious and a-plenty. I avoid the higher priced KBBQ restaurants, mainly because I am cheap & find contentment in unpretentious things. Red Palace 2 delivers in the KBBQ experience and I feel is a good food option when in...
Read moreThey add tip on their own! Only 18%!!!!!!! Tip is mandatory! When I addressed the tip situation to the “owner” she said it was mandatory. Gave me the biggest attitude when I tried to explain there was no way it could be mandatory unless it’s over $100 or more than 6 people. I told her she didn’t say that as we were coming in nor is it anywhere in the wall! I’m paying for my food tip depends on your service. She said fine! Don’t come back here!
But on top of that: they had AWFUL customer service!!!! So we tried this place out for the first time, as soon as walked in we notice the servers didn’t really want to work. The server gave me an attitude because of my stroller. The restroom doesn’t have a changing station and she told me that either way I could y change her there. I have an uppababy bassinet, I told her I was going to change her in the stroller but if I could do it in the restroom since it was cold out. She said no a stroller doesn’t fit. I had to change my 9 month old outside in the cold. But okay I was hungry. When I used the restroom I realized that my stroller could have sit with extra space for me to do circles around it!
We didn’t want to leave since my pregnant self was really hungry! We tried to make the best of the situation, but We had to keep asking for out stuff! Waiter gave us 1 napkin per person, we asked again and she only gave us 2! Mind you I had my kid there. She gave my husband attitude when he asked for a fountain drink instead of can the waiter rolled her eyes! Meat is super thin! With most fat. I would not recommend this place at all, maybe not so much for the food (Mizo soup was cold!!!) but if you like getting disrespected as a paying customer this...
Read moreI had to give 1 star because Yelp doesn't allow 0, just left this establishment . We ordered our food, to begin with, everything was fine. The 2nd time whilst ordering beef bulgogi, I found a fly in our food and immediately reported to our server Jasmin. I showed her the FLY and she immediately took our food away. Comes back and asks if we wish to continue dining, we say we're DONE here. 5 seconds later she comes in with our bill($42.68). We are expected to pay?! We tell her this is ridiculous, we ARE NOT paying the bill! She replies that she can only give us a 10%, yes a 10% only when there is a fly embedded in our food. That is extremely unsanitary, she reports that her boss wont do anything about it and there is nobody else above her that we can speak to. Are you serious?! She calls over another server Kevin and he says the same ridiculous nonsense that she said about only being able to waive 10% off our check. They want to say they are certified with the health department etc, and they want to say a fly in the food is no big deal. I dont think so! They said we can report all we want, but they wont do anything about the situation, not even notify other customers about potentially eating contaminated food, contaminated with a bulging red eyed FLY ! A FLY IN THE RAW BULGOGI MEAT! A SERIOUS HEALTH HAZARD ! THIS WHOLE SITUATION IS ABSURD! This is a DISGRACE TO ALL...
