I’m crowning China Taste my favorite American Chinese restaurant in Asheville. My order is always prepared correctly, the folks who work here are kind, their food is very tasty, the portion sizes are plentiful and their prices are reasonable! A few of my go-to orders include: Crispy Scallion Chicken, Chow Mei Fun, Szechuan Wontons, Crabmeat Rolls, and Chicken on Sticks (pro tip: you can make some yummy sandwiches out of Chicken on Sticks. Kewpie, broccoli/kale slaw, avocado, a little sweet soy sauce—get creative, thank me later.). They don’t drown their Crispy Scallion Chicken, and similar dishes, in the sauce like some places I’ve experienced in the past. I appreciate and respect a solid sauce to crispy chicken ratio. Their Chow Mei Fun hits the spot when I’m in the mood to take soft, airy vermicelli rice noodles with a little curry to the face. The wonton soup comes with those good fried wonton strips, not the dense/stale/flavorless oyster cracker nibblets I’ve gotten at some places. Through and through their dishes are delicious. I see an attention to detail and consistency with their cooking that’s made me a fan. On top of it all they offer online ordering and they’re open 6 days a week until 10pm. I always do pick-up and my order has always been ready quick. Yeah, the parking lot’s…a vibe sometimes, but whatever. I’ve never been harassed by anyone that’s hanging around out there, but hey, CT also offers delivery if you’d prefer. I wish you nothing but longterm success, China Taste. Thank you for making delicious food, especially when I’m too tired to cook. I’m glad we’re in the neighborhood together.

Had heard good things about this place from 2 people I know so I got a takeout. So glad I did not drive over there with the reviews on the unsafeness of the location. No utensils, sauces, fortune cookie. Wanted to try the Moo Shu Pork cant get it anywhere like I had in a New York. Pancakes were so thin it would not even hold anything. That was the 1st bad sign. The fried rice I got with it was awful dry and bland. The vegetables and pork were good but the sauce was lacking something. So disappointed would not try anything else. Wish I looked more thoroughly at the reviews.

Great, affordably-priced Chinese restaurant with all of the staples and then some. Ordering with qMenu app will give you more options. $9 will net you a delicious sweet and sour chicken combo, complete with pork friend rice and soup! Offering takeout and delivery, my pickup was ready within the 10-15 min it took me to drive there. Service was fast and the restaurant has a rather ingenious pass-through window to keep everyone safe. A full-sized glass plate cordons off the kitchen from the public. Cards accepted, cash preferred.

I rarely write reviews because I think it's best to withhold your opinion until you've eaten somewhere consistently over a period of time. Also it's quarantine and I have nothing to do but give an in depth review of this place.

With that being said I've been going to China Taste for two years now for a reason. With little hesitation I'll drive a 25 minute (there and back) trip to get their food. I've calculated the cost of driving there and back and it is still worth it.

China Taste does what it does well and it does it consistently. With a low-key location and a proprietary online ordering system (free of fees), China Taste does exactly what you'd hope any business with low overhead would do - find the perfect intersection of ultimate affordability and fresh, tasty, food. I've always had prompt and friendly service as well!

All the typical staples are there. I've tried most of their meats with the exception of the seafood. All good. Vegetables seem fresh-steamed every time. Dinner Combo gets you a heavy platter of rice, meats and veggies with a pint of Wanton soup (and yeah they give you two wontons). Serving size is where they shine. I can slam a frozen pizza* to myself in like 20 fiscal minutes and even CT's dinner platters get split in two for me. Insane.

So yeah get China Taste.

Edit: We decided to try China Taste one more time: I decided to order food that’s probably made a 100 times a week. I ordered Gen Tso’s chicken. Sauce was good, chicken was crispy. The crab Rangoon is really good, but the veggie dumplings are little rubbery nuggets of smooshed veggies(bleh). Veggie fried rice was great, mushrooms broccoli and onions. Perfect. So, overall it was MUCH better this time. Just leave the rubber nuggets dumplings alone and order something else! Oh and their donuts are really good too! Ask for light sugar.

This was horrible. Singapore noodles has curry in it but you have to make sure the curry cooks through otherwise you get a mouthful of uncooked curry powder in every bite. This happened. And it was horrible and a waste of money. Even more of a waste was calling them back and letting them know this happened. She said, I can give you a credit. I said yes please but then... she started to argue with me about what was wrong with it. I don’t know what every Chinese restaurant does with their Singapore noodles, but everyone I have ordered it from(had to be a lot as it’s my favorite dish) has NEVER tasted like this. When I hung up she was still arguing and yelling over me. Not worth my time to continue this conversation , just glad I have made the deduction to...
