I work nearby and on my 30 min unpaid break I run out to grab some food. Given that they have a young staff, I happen to order the 2 for $5 deal and go with Chicken Strips / Soft Pretzels or Chicken Strips /Fries. The Buffalo sauce is really good and its a good cheap deal.
My one Gripe: I understand you have to cook chicken to a certain degree to not kill anyone or give the community salmonella BUT it takes literally 13 mins some days to get through the drive though. They make my Blizzard or whatever "treat" I add really fast, but I will sit at the window with the ENTIRE staff staring at the kid working the fryer and all the cars are piling up behind me its ridiculous.
I can't really knock the staff they are doing their jobs, and its very important the chicken gets cooked,, but my guess is its pre-cooked frozen and they are just warming it up. I was joking with the kid today, saying I can call ahead and they can go ahead and drop my (2) chicken strips ahead of time and we can keep it moving.
I will say the manager seems to be in her own world.. These kids are trying to run a drive though (none older than 17) and she's running around not touching any food, or solving any problems. I have 10 plus mins to watch at the window after I pay. She was running around in and out of her office fumbling the key trying to unjam a stapler the other day. Just seems like she is not the best leader given from the time I order to the time I pull away is on average 20+ mins. This is M-Th at 11am. Not the craziest time.
They got two young men running the register and I have to say they are doing great, good attitudes, while the other staff seems to change often.
Even though this comes off negative I love DQ and just wish they could figure out how to warm up my chicken strips in...
Read moreUnfortunately I don't have any choice but to be brutally honest with my opinion of the dairy queen in Arden NC. I have no way of Expressing how terrible my experience with this DQ was. My wife and I went here Friday afternoon (6/11) for lunch and were immediately treated from the start as if we had insulted someone by stopping to eat at their restaurant. The girl through the drive thru speaker was short with me and rude and had no tact or professionalism whatsoever. I had to repeat myself several times and they still butchered our food order. Not only did they get it wrong, but they overcharged the s* out of us. After speaking with a manager they finally corrected our order and I thought ok, we can relax, right? No. They screwed us on our BBQ sauce for our chicken strips, and there was hair in our fries. I don't think it's possible to treat a customer of your business worse than the way in which we were treated that afternoon. If I could give this DQ 0 stars, I would. No stars would be too good of a review. Do NOT waste your time or money eating here. It will always end in your disappointment and on top of it all, they charge steakhouse prices for low quality, tasteless food. I give this DQ 1 out of 5 stars. Siskel and Ebert say two big thumbs way, way down. Save yourself the stress and don't eat at this excuse of a restaurant....
Read moreWe ordered a cake over the phone 2 days earlier to eat there for my son's 9th birthday. The cake was good. We were told over the phone to bring our own plates and utensils, which I thought was odd since we bought the cake there and its a dine-in restaurant. When we arrived we asked for the cake and the young lady could not find it. She asked if I had a receipt and my friend said "Receipt? She ordered over the phone" in a normal tone. Then an older lady came from the back with the cake saying "Dont you be rude to my employees!!" We were taken aback, as we had not been rude at all. We said that and she continued to accuse us and say I heard you!! We did not argue. We just took the cake and said it looked great. Tried to be nice. The young girl said "you know they are eating it here? And the older woman roller her eyes! Really upsetting way to start a party. We forgot our cake knife but no way were we going to ask staff for help. My friend had a pocket knife so we used that. It was clean and cake was good. That cake decorator needs a class in how to...
