I came in solo for lunch at around 2 pm and had a wonderful table for one with a breath-taking view after driving for about 3.5 hours here from Georgia.
They played nice music for the restaurant guests, but AT THE SAME TIME, had the TV on WITH sound…. Why?…. I can’t understand.
I asked to please turn off the TV, which was interrupting the nice music in the restaurant with the blah blah blah (so annoying and disturbing) and it was also poisoning my gorgeous view with flashing ads into my face.
The manager turned the TV off, and I had the most peaceful lunch atmosphere after that.
Thanks, Lindsey.
Thank you also for making me a dinner reservation at the restaurant with a sunset view on the hotel property. I loved it! And I enjoyed the fun cashew-milk-tasting with your team!
My server was a true Wonder-Woman!
Her name was Kayla.
She was nice and helpful, full of tips, which I followed and felt extremely satisfied with everything. She was patient, engaging, and very interesting. I learned from her a lot about DESIGNING for yourself the life YOU enjoy and cherish.
THEY DO NOT HAVE GOOD FRESH BREAD, which was a shocker for me… so next time I’ll have to bring my own bread. I brought my own cashew milk this time and loved my coffee with it.
I later ate at The Blue Ridge restaurant on the hotel property and added my milk to their tomato soup, and it was heavenly-delicious! They had no good fresh crusty healthy bread there either. They offered soft rolls, which are not comparable to the crusty fresh bread offered at other nice restaurants.
My lunch at Edison consisted of salmon with veggies, and every bite of EVERYTHING was great. Only some fresh crusty bread was missing and could make it better! I enjoyed it anyway.
It’s important to mention that the entire team here is friendly and welcoming.
As a solo female diner, I felt safe and happy here. I’m going to come back for some time by their fireplace with a journal and dessert!
They had a list of desserts that featured several things I liked.
On their wine list, I loved two wines, bought one, and was told I can walk around the entire property with that glass of wine.
So, I did! It was wonderful.
I walked everywhere and enjoyed the sunset and waterfall sounds outside before heading to another restaurant for dinner, then live music at the hall bar at 7:30 pm (takes place every night).
TIP: by THIS restaurant, the woman’s bathroom HAS hot water. By the Blue Ridge restaurant, the woman’s bathroom has NO hot water. So, I took my long walks across the hallways to enjoy the wonderful bathroom by the Edison since I was here on property for about 7 hours before driving back to Georgia.
I also loved that this restaurant has cozy pillows, and I used one for my back, so I was indescribably comfortable while eating, journaling, and enjoying my mesmerizing view!
The helpful lady who took some pictures for me was from Chili. She was very kind and pleasant!
It was my first return in 14 years, but I won’t be waiting that long ever again, so I plan to come back as soon as they have more greenery and warmer weather. It was 80F only 20 min of driving from here, but it was 68F and very windy here. It was cold. I still enjoyed walking around outside and I loved everything, including the cold (I wore a wool coat).
I am Russian.
The live music and dancing in the evening at the lobby of the Grove Park Inn was excellent. The singer sang Frank Sinatra for me, and I sang my heart out with him! One of the guests asked me what I was doing - singing and having a great time.
I was being engaged in living my life in the present and capturing JOY each and every moment. Joy is there for us to capture: we must be present to notice joy.
I recommend this restaurant and the entire hotel as an experience. Next time, I’ll plan breakfast, then lots of walking, and more music, as well as time by the fireplace.
You should try their Riesling and salmon. Give yourself plenty of time to stare out the window and just feel JOY...

The menu has a solid variety of food options and a plethora of adult beverages to please your palate. Here's what we ordered, Nobles seasonal cider and (forgot name) a specialty drinks take on an old fashioned. Nobles Cider, fantastic. The old fashioned, my wife immediately ordered another drink, and the Moscow mule she ended up with she loved. My wife's description of her first drink is that it tasted like chewing on an orange peel. It was immediately exchanged and we were only charged for the one drink.
The food, the brussel sprouts were ok. It's one of our favorite appetizers to order at various restaurants and comparatively it fell quite short. They were slightly undercooked to our liking in some bites where we were really getting our chewing on to crunch through them. The flavor didn't mesh well for us and seemed imbalanced as each bite brought an inconsistent experience of chewing or flavor profile. The main dishes: Bison meatloaf was great, cooked perfectly and had a wonderful flavor. The parsnip and lettuce leaves that also came on the plate were lacking flavor and seasoning. I could tell with each bite I needed just slightly more of whatever was in it, to really make it shine. The salmon, once again cooked perfectly, what we found interesting is that the salmon itself didn't appear to be seasoned and relied solely on the pepper jelly for flavor. My wife would have preferred more of the pepper jelly if that is intentionally the case. The broccoli side she had she loved and wished there was more. There was a very lovely parsnip puree on her plate that also left her wanting more. That is where the problem really was for her, is that after her meal and half the appetizer she was still hungry. Our snooping eyes looked at other diners and comparatively the salmon and the meatloaf appeared to be the loneliest on their plates. So that may be something to consider. We opted against dessert as their 3 options didn't inspire us. Overall we had a nice time with a decent meal.
The price of the meals do factor in here to the overall rating. It's expensive, not unreasonably though and with choosing options accordingly you can keep the cost down. That said with what we ordered, compared to other places we've been in the same price range, it fell short. If we lived in the area we would want to try again as there are moments in these dishes that had our attention. We shall see, and if we do I'll be sure to...

The Omni Grove Park Inn is a lovely historic hotel. The atmosphere is charming and rustic. The staff and employees are, for the most part, exceptional. We love to eat at the Blue Ridge, but the Blue Ridge has limited hours. When one stays at a luxury hotel, it goes without saying that a brunch or dinner will cost considerably more than a snack meal at a lesser restaurant. The Edison is what I would call a lesser restaurant, with a beautiful view.
Employees do not know what you have paid at another location in the hotel; thus, it would seem to me to be a prudent policy to treat everyone with courtesy and kindness. After all, the important thing is what was spent overall at the hotel for the visit. It is immaterial how much was spent at one location for one thing after 8-12 meals of various values have been purchased over the course of the weekend.
After spending $350 to eat Sunday brunch, we were not overly hungry but needed a little something for dinner. I made a reservation at Edison’s, knowing we would not be overly hungry but wishing to experience the Mountain View and sunset, while listening to the rainfall. Thus, we did not order a lot. However the restaurant was quite empty and so it did not seem to be a problem for us to sit, relax and enjoy the view.
Apparently, I was wrong. Eliza was completely inattentive. She did not ask if we wanted drink refills. When a drink refill was requested by way of the busboy, she delivered a glass of HOT “iced” tea with NO ice and 2/3 full of tea. No lemon, no sweetener, and a separate glass of ice. The tea was so hot that it immediately melted the glass of ice she so kindly provided.
We proceeded to enjoy the clouds on the mountains, while talking and drinking. Eliza was completely inattentive- until she decided she wished us to leave. She walked by our table not asking if we wanted anything, and not even stopping, as she stated that we must leave in 15 minutes because they had another party coming - there were many empty tables available, but she wanted our table.
Grove Park Inn is one of my favorite hotels - because of the kindness shown by the staff of the Blue Ridge as well as other employees. If everyone treated me like Eliza treated me, we would never return...
