I hate leaving reviews. However, the owner/manager here is incredibly rude and deserves to be called out on it. I’ve been to this location twice, and both times have heard him talking down to his employees. He blatantly makes fun of them and isn’t ashamed for the customers to hear him do it. Regardless of if they are jokes, he is disrespectful and could hurt someone’s feelings along the way.
This alone wouldn’t be cause for me to write a review because I typically just hate doing this, but he made an misogynistic joke directed towards me today and I’m choosing not to go back because of it.
For reference: he was making fun of an employee for asking where the broom was. The employee may have been 16 or 17, and it appeared to be their first job. He told the employee “where he can stick his questions,” and then came up to me and my 8 month old, and said “I’m sure even you know what a broom looks like” to my literal baby. He then said, “I’m sure you see mommy using a broom all the time after she makes big ol messes,” and then looked up to my husband as if that was an ok joke to make.
(I’m choosing not to add the comment I overheard him make the first time I came to this restaurant because I don’t feel comfortable repeating the “joke” at risk of triggering someone).
All in all, this guy needs to learn how to respect not only his employees but his restaurants customers. And maybe how to keep his mouth closed. The food is fine, but not worth supporting someone who ab*ses their position...
Read moreIt's just Nick's Grill with better seasoning. The old Montford Deli didn't quite transplant. The fries are similar, but not the same.
I got the fried fish sandwich, a side of fries, and a side of tartar sauce. I could be wrong, but weren't the fries at the old location included in the price of a sandwich?
The fish was great - flaky with a solid crispy crunchy coating. The tartar sauce was great. The bun was toasted beautifully. The shredded lettuce and thinly sliced tomato were both past their prime. I pulled the sandwich apart and ate the filet like fish sticks dipped in the tartar sauce. Tasty, but not a repeat for $10.
Acknowledging the place was slammed and the staff did a great job of knocking out orders.
Got the philly + mushrooms (thanks for the tip, guy behind the counter!) and let me tell you - wow. Don't change anything, it's perfect. The bread is soft, the cheese is gooey, the meat is juicy and dripping with flavor.
For folks who were confused like me, the deli is inside the Montford Corner Store, right on the corner.
Order, grab a cold bevvie from the store, and walk your five-star picnic down the road to...
Read moreI had a cheeseburger and soda, ( no fries or side) paid $15 + Very over priced for the taste and quality. It wasn't bad. The Service was good. Great Customer service. It took about 10 minutes which is fine especially if they are fresh made. Not too many people were there though. I thought this was a faster food type of place. I miss being able to go through the drive thru here when it used to be " Nick's", for when you need faster service and can order from menu outback. It was ok. Nothing really to rave about though. I've had much cheaper burgers in little diners that tasted just the same. I didn't like how they toasted and buttered the bread without you knowing. But, that's a personal preference. But Honestly, It was not all that great for $15. I regret my order. Maybe they have better items to choose from that are tastier. I just can't believe how expensive burgers are nowadays in Asheville and surrounding areas!? I mean, if it's a double burger, very high quality meat, I can understand in a more finer dining type place. But, this is a very casual diner type place. And, they are charging $15 for burger and drink. Wow. If it was Amazing, I wouldn't mind when I can afford it. But, I was just under-whelmed...
