I really hope that this place continues to thrive. It is the perfect cozy neighborhood spot, especially for those of us who go to the Woodfin YMCA and want to meet somebody for lunch or a nice glass of wine after a workout. What’s to love? The menu offers a variety of options and has something for everybody from vegetarians to carnivores. There is a robust wine selection (this makes sense, because the place is owned by Metro wines) although we have only been for lunch, and I had too many errands to do that day and commitments, to indulge in a glass of wine, but we will be back in the evening. The server was pleasant and efficient without hovering. My friend arrived 30 minutes before I did. It was all my fault, because one of my classes was canceled and I ended up going to another class, and then mixing up the time when I was supposed to meet her. So she had been sitting there for half an hour. And it is the type of place that you can sit for half an hour and not feel super awkward. She had a gorgeous bowl of soup by the time I arrived. She said her coffee was excellent. And when the service saw me arrive, he Quickly fetched the menu for me and my salad came out very quickly as well so that my friend was not eating by herself for too long! The place is cozy, but not dark. There is a nice large window onto the street that keeps the place somewhat airy and bright, but it’s a small spot, so the tables are cozy and reminiscent of a European Café where there is not a lot of room. This is not negative; this is what community should be. With little two tops and four tops somewhat close to one another. The bar area is also very pretty. And I imagine that in the evening it would be fun to sit at the bar and enjoy some cheese and wine. My only complaint is the tea selection. Since the place feels very elegant, it would be nice if they had some loose tea and some teapots rather than just a bag of tea in a cup. I normally would not complain about bags of tea in most restaurants, but this restaurant really positions itself to having pot of tea and sitting and simmering along with your Lunch, so please consider adding a couple of tea pots and some looseleaf teas to your menu. I did not deduct a star, but I just thought that would be a nice addition, because it does have a bit of a European feel. Also, some French presses? That would be lovely. My friend said the coffee is excellent, but if you had a French press I would’ve ordered coffee instead! And you can charge a little bit more for the French press, and there’s something lovely about having the French press on the table. I realize I’m making a lot of suggestions, but it is only because the place is new, and I think that an elegant tea and coffee experience would really suit the interior and the balance of the menu. Oh, we met one of the owners, and she was very nice as well. Almost forgot the food! I had the tuna salad and the dressing was really tasty. It was also a very pretty salad. See the photos

We had our Valentine's date at Quench last evening. Everything was wonderful at this little gem. An impressive menu for a "wine bar" and a large selection of wines. The Elk in a blanket was my favorite, but the roasted goat cheese dip was also very good. And one of the best 3 cheese grilled cheese sandwiches I've had. Great spot! We will be back!!!

We were huge fans of Ambrozia so had to check out Quench when we saw the Ambrozia chef (Sam Etheridge) was back! Lunch today was excellent. My husband had the mushroom gumbo and I had the butternut squash soup. We shared the pork pot pie with sherry gravy (see photo). Everything was wonderful! Our new favorite eating place in north AVL.

This has become my favorite little lunch and dinner spot in town. The food is fresh and it is made with heart and soul. They have gone out of their way when I requested wine pairings for my dishes. They also have the accoutrements if you’re planning a nice little party; wine and beer by the bottle, good cheese, olives etc.

Also their cassoulet was divine.

One more thing, they have a grilled cheese special that changes periodically, the last one that I had for lunch today had a bit of a salty fried crispy ham contrasted with a bit of spicy, zazzy green hatch chili and a generous melt of manchego.

My taste...

I can't say enough good things about Quench! The food is delicious and well worth the cost! The staff is outstanding, from the Chef Sam and his awesome kitchen staff to Kelley, Sara and Jonathan providing great service and sharing their wine knowledge. Free wine tasting Wednesday 4-6. You would have a very hard time finding anyone more passionate about wine...
