Shear-N-Shine — Local services in Woodfin

SO DISAPPOINTED! First time trying this place and was excited based on the reviews. I have an Old English Sheepdog and she has some mats which she always gets between grooming. When I arrived the groomer and I looked at my dogs hair together and they'd have no problem. She said it would be up to 3 hours and they'd call me when she was done.

3.5 hours later I get a call. They told me she just got done drying and had not even started her brush out. They continued to tell me that her mats were too bad and it would be an extra 3 hours and $300 to brush her out! I lived in LA for 12 years and never once was my grooming bill near this number. Totally insane. I believe this place purposely does this to prey on people that they think they can take advantage of once your dog is already dropped off and had a bath. I came and picked her up (still had to pay for a bath and nail clipping - note her dew claws weren't trimmed at all) and brushed her out myself at home.

Also a note that my dog was DYING of thirst when she came back from there. They definitely didn't offer her water and if they had kept her for another 3 hours (6.5 hours total) I can't even imagine how dehydrated my dog would have been.

We've been taking our mini-bernedoodle puppy Sadie to Shear-n-Shine for quite some time now, every 6 weeks like clockwork. I am so incredibly grateful to them for their attention to detail and how well they care for Sadie while she's there. In fact, every time we pull up into the parking lot Sadie starts wagging her tail and howling with excitement she's so excited to see them! The first time we took her there I didn't realize that her legs had some bad matting underneath and they were very helpful and informative with what they'd have to do and how we should care for her between appointments. She always comes home looking incredibly well cared for and beautiful and smells great! Shear-n-shine staff are always very welcoming and well-priced and we'll definitely continue to recommend them! Grateful to have them in our North Asheville...

We have tried out about 6 different groomers in our area over the past 5 years. We have one standard poodle and two toy poodles, so having a great groomer is a must for us. We loved one we used for a while, but they changed their pricing structure. A few did lackluster jobs. A couple wouldn’t groom your dog if you were more than 7 minutes late, or they wanted to keep your dog there and crated from 8 to 5 except for the time they spent grooming them. We prefer them to not be there all that extra time, as it stresses them. Plus, we are not 8 am people.

Shear-N-Shine found appointments that worked for our schedule and in the time frame I needed. They were very pleasant to work with, pricing was reasonable, shop was easy to get to, and our poodles...
