I love this place. They have great daily specials on food and beer, and everything I've ever had here has been excellent. Great burgers and sandwiches, home-made fries, tasty apps like fried brussels sprouts and home-made pierogies. I've been there probably a dozen times and every beer I've ordered has been a very good pour, so you come pretty close to getting 16oz in a pint (instead of the normal 12 to 14 oz pours you can typically get elsewhere). In addition to all the local / regional beers they serve, they also have Narragansett lager for $3 a pint every day. It's pretty good on tap. Mondays special is $4 stout and $6 for 8 wings. Tuesday is $4 sierra nevada and $6 bacon-ranch-cheddar fries. Wed is $3 Lagunitas IPA etc... Great specials. The service has always been friendly and everything you could ask for. Bonus: The tax is already in the prices, so a $5 beer is $5 on the bill. Love that. Definitely check it out if you're looking for some quality food and drink. I don't think anyone would be dissappointed.

cons: It's a bit dark inside and the AC is usually set so low that even a fat man like myself gets cold in there, so maybe bring extra clothes. Also, ignore the few reviews from karens who came to town to see biltmore, eat at chillapplebees (but were too late), and complain about everything. Nearly everyone else gives it 5 stars. Imagine complaining about bar food from the only kitchen open at 1am, and then posting a picture of it that looks super awesome. And... anyone who likes crispy fries ought to know that well-done is best and takeout fries are never crispy after steaming in a to-go clamshell for 10 mins. Sit down and eat it there from a plate like a civilized person. Maybe have a beer to help...

UPDATE: they are vegan friendly! And Kyrie is an amazing bartender, she remembers regulars, is so friendly and makes the best suggestions 💛 I just had the delicious Buddha bowl and vegan brat and I’m looking forward to trying the vegan philly next time! And major kudos to the chef! Tried the captain crunch French toast and omg it’s heaven 😍 and the thick hand cut fries are always salted to perfection, give this chef a raise! 💸 12/10/2020: my pics don’t do justice for the deliciousness of the brussel sprouts and latkes 🥰 one word: phenomenal 😍 Since I have to pass Barrelhouse when I go visit my friend, he always asks me to stop and grab him some wings (I’m starting to think the only reason he invited me over is for free delivery 😄). He doesn’t do reviews but asked me to leave this one for him. He said the hamdcut fries are nice and thick and perfectly greasy 🍟 🤤. I tried them and they are very good, too dangerous for me with little self restraint lol. I always encourage him to get full off the wings so I can have his leftover fries 😄. Speaking of the wings he said they are fried perfectly and seasoned so well he always gets the sauce on the side to enjoy them baked and dressed.

This is a cool neighborhood spot, everyone is friendly inside. It’s a small space and I saw they have trivia night so I bet it’s crowded on Thursdays. The bar is gorgeous though, I love the wood 😍. Plenty of parking since it shares the lot with a beauty salon next door. I’m excitedly awaiting them to bring back a fruit desert peorgie. Apple pie is discontinued 😞 but they said they are considering a new fruit...

I wanted to try this place on our vacation since the Groupon was such a great deal. This restaurant is so different on the outside than it is on the inside. By looking at the outside it looks like a regular building and not really much like a restaurant at all. My husband and daughter did not even want to give it a chance but. I knew it was supposed to be a great place because of the wonderful reviews. I told them to stay in the car and I would check it out.

The first thing I noticed was this was a bar that served food which was very different than I thought from the outside. The walls were purple and has The Barrel House written largely it bright letters on the wall. I could tell the waitress had a great personality and she had a nose ring just like my daughter. I could tell right away this was the place we would eat.

The food was great! The chicken sandwich was very tender and had great flavor. The wings were crispy and served hot, with wide variety of dipping sauces. The burger was very juicy with enough meat on it that did not get lost under the bun. All meals were served with a generous amount of fries that are home made. My family was very pleased with the whole experience and my daughter got a hoodie so she could remember the name, she says she is...

This is one of the few reviews I've done that was given low stars. This is a smaller restaurant that is more bar than restaurant (which isn't a problem). There is quite a limited food selection. There are more drinks/alcohol than food choices. We ordered fried brussels sprouts which were burnt. We ordered burgers but weren't asked how we wanted them cooked. My son got the BH (Barrel House) burger which was on a doughnut. My husband got the Elk burger which we asked to have the dijonnaise on the side because I wanted to try his burger. It was still put on the burger and a side of it was brought out as well. I ordered the classic and the meat was way smaller than the bun and salty. I asked to add bacon which ended up being $3 for 2 strips of bacon. The sandwiches all come with Doritos and it costs $2 extra to get french fries. The fries we paid extra for came out mostly burnt and and also salty which is quite unfortunate since we were the only ones in there at the time. We ended up spending quite a bit of money for food that was largely inedible. I don't think I've ended up with a groupon I was disappointed in until now.

We arrived about 3 hours late to Asheville from Atlanta and figured our only option would be a fast food drive-through as we made our way into Tennessee. Instead we did a little research and found the Barrelhouse was open late (until 1am) and served bar food. When we arrived, we were greeted outdoors by what I assume are the regulars, all very friendly. We sat at the bar and were instantly greeted and brought water and menus by the friendly bartender. I ordered a mule and the burger with hand cut fries and my boyfriend ordered the wings over fries. Both meals were great. The burger bun was soft, the meat well seasoned and cooked, and the toppings were fresh and plentiful. The fries were SO GOOD! They were thick cut but still crispy and hot, not soggy and greasy like some hand cut fries can get. My boyfriend enjoyed the wings and said they were flavorful. In the end, we were glad our delayed flight led us on our journey to the Barrelhouse and will recommend to anyone visiting Asheville or passing through.

This is a MUST if you're in the area! We were interested in a dog-friendly restaurant and came across this hidden gem on google Service was beyond excellent very friendly wait staff. Fried Deviled Eggs? Whaaat??? You can't miss out on this experience let me tell ya, we tried it all, couldn't help ourselves. Fried Brussel Sprouts seasoned to perfection..Oh did I tell you about their Pierogis? Man oh Man, Philly cheese steak and the 2nd flavor was cheese and onion, both equally delicious. We ordered wings and fries with their blackberry bourbon bbq sauce WOW is all I can say!! The ranch is on point, the fries were Legit, (wingstop you have Hella competition up here in North Carolina), The drinks were strong can't remember the names but definitely worth it I'd come back to Asheville just to eat here again
