Jack in the Box — Restaurant in Atascadero

When I got hungry, I pulled up to the drive-thru and placed my order: two Junior chickens with cheese, a large fry, and an iced tea.

While I was waiting for my food, I decided to take a drink of what I thought was my iced tea. To my surprise, it was a mix of cold water, Sprite, and more water. The staff was trying to figure out what was wrong with the iced tea machine when my order was finally handed to me. I checked it and noticed that instead of a large hot french fry, I received two medium cold fries.

The lady at the window offered assistance, so I informed her that I don't drink sugary beverages and would like a refund. However, they told me they couldn't provide a refund due to a new system they had in place. So, I ended up taking a watered-down lemonade instead. I drove off with no iced tea and cold fries.

As I headed home, I thought there was no way they could mess up the chicken sandwiches since they took a while to prepare them—surely they had to be hot. Nope! At this point, I was frustrated, but I couldn’t help but laugh (that's why the atmosphere gets a 5). I just donated $16 to Jack in the Box and was still hungry! The food and service doesn’t even deserve a star, lol.

Should I have gone back and asked for a refund for the entire order, or was it better to...

I understand, that with a customer service based fast food restaurant, they can have periods of rush hours. I arrived about 6:30 pm on Friday night and they had a long line at the drive thru. I parked and went inside. There were no one standing in line. The manage told me it would be a few minutes and he then would be with me. He looked very confused was running around in circles. I patiently waited over 20 minutes for them to just take my order. I watched as they continue to fill the drive thru orders they had pending. Again, I was the only one in line inside trying to order. I then noticed they were taking new orders from the drive thru. It was one thing to wait for them to fill the previous orders, but when they continued to take orders through the drive thru as I just stood there and no one took my order. I walked out at 7:00 pm. Unless they have different crews on a Friday night, I would avoid this place unless you have a couple hours to enjoy...

I don't think I have ever been inside this place so I'm not going to review the inside. The drive thru is always kind of hit and miss. Some days they are on it, getting food out to cars and keeping that line moving. I personally don't trust beef from fast food places so I always get a breakfast sandwich and a large Oreo shake. Which I have to say out of all the fast food chains they have the best Oreo shakes. mmmmm.....so good! My main issues with this place is that they are always out of Oreo shakes. Another is that the hours they are open are not accurate to what they claim. I have shown up at 10pm on a weekend and nobody is there. I find that odd for a jack on the box. I thought they were always open till at least midnight. I mention this because it has happened quite a few times. So much you really start to notice it. So late night meals at this place is a gamble. Everytime I pass by a jack in the box I have to stop and get my Oreo...
