Suprema meat market — Local services in Atascadero

I came into town and decided to get some meat to throw on the grill. I've tried carnicerias all over California, and they can be hit or miss. THIS carniceria was a BIG miss. The day was july 9th. I walked in, wasn't greeted. Ok, no biggie. Let's check this carne asada out, I thought. After finally getting the guy behind the counters attention, I asked him if that diezmillo was "preparada", or prepared, in English. It looked like it had zero seasoning on it. He said it was, and I asked him to let me take a look at it. The carne asada was cut way too thick, almost 3/4 inches. Defeats the whole purpose of diezmillo, since it isn't tender steak. I asked him to give me the thinnest slices he has. They were still too thick, but whatever. Get home, throw them on the grill and bring the meat inside. ZERO flavor. I knew it. Now, What's the point of getting prepared meat if you have to season it afterwards? That's what GOOD carnicerias do, they make the seasoning special and in turn, it makes the meat delicious. Safe to say, I'll never come back here for meat again, and if you're in the area looking for quality meat, look elsewhere. Oh, and the cashier girl was rude and seemed like she hated life...

I had the BEST EXPERIENCE here. The manager was BEYOND kind to me. I work at a local high school and my students were able to raise limited funds for their end of year party. They were celebrating completing a long and difficult AP Exam. All my students wanted were tacos for their party. I called many local stores that quoted me double what my students had raised. The amazing staff at Suprema, specifically their manager, worked with me to get my students the tacos of their dreams.

No other place was willing to cut me a deal or discount of ANY kind. This was phenomenal service. I will exclusively get tacos from these very kind people. We decided to do a taco bar for our NYE party, partly because we saw that you can buy the pre-marinated meat at Suprema. We'd never been there but it looked good from the pics. Anyway we tried it and bought their marinated chicken, al pastor pork, and their salsa verde and pico de gallo. Plus a bunch of tortillas. We ended up getting the veggies at Gather because we didn't see cilantro or limes there, but we might've just not looked hard enough and I don't mind getting those at Gather or Vons anyway.

But point being, the meat and salsa were AWESOME, the taco bar turned out great and was a huge hit for our little get-together. There's no way we could've gotten the meat seasoned and marinated so well on our own. It made everything so easy. We'll definitely be back here a lot in the future!! Staff were all very helpful and...
