My best friend and I wanted to try something new, and we found that La Mexicana was a walkable distance to us. I'm not sure why we haven't tried it before, but the food here is GOOD. Hot and fresh, I'd usually take a picture before eating, but it was so good I couldn't help but start eating before I took the picture. There was more food before my best friend and I started. We ordered the platter for dinner (around $25-29). Sharing it was not an issue whatsoever. We couldn't finish it by the end. The proportions are Costco levels, which make it so good for the price. Could realistically feed three people in my opinion, unless you were really hungry. The waiters and people inside were so kind, and we didn't even have to try to ask them anything. Ordered a Chile relleno a la carte, good value for the price. Best Chile relleno I have ever had, hands down. It had lots of cheese, the batter was flavorful and the sauce was excellent. Also ordered two cheese enchilada combo to go. Nice big portion. The beans were delicious, rice was light and fluffy, enchiladas were amazing. The chips however were stale.. I'm sure the chips are fresh during the day. I did go late, 30 mins before closing. The restaurant was empty and there was no music playing. The decor is a little plain. We stopped for breakfast and we're good we did. The chilaquiles were amazing: crispy tortilla chunks, perfectly cooked beans, eggs lightly scrambled into the mixture, topped with ranchero sauce and cheese.
