Every other day I order a lunch or dinner from Subway 16152-0, as it is the closest one to my home. But the recent 2 visits have been a problem. And both of them had a worker named Nate that messed up my order. (Or at least it looked like the name "Nate". The writing on his hat tag was very faded and blurry.)
I brought in a coupon page that I received in the mail. I get these coupons every couple of months and am always using them. The coupon was 3 sandwiches for 17.99 (or something like that). I waited in line and observed the person in front of me having problems with Nate. I remember Nate from last a previous time and how he messed up on my order. I waited for about 15 minutes or so while Nate was arguing with the customer about a coupon and the other worker was making sandwiches. I thought about leaving, but didn't... Which was a big mistake.
When it was finally my turn to pay, I brought him the coupon and Subway gift card. He scanned it before entering the sandwiches. The Nate went to the other worker and said something to him and came back and then asked me what type of sandwiches that I ordered. He then entered the info and scanned the coupon again. He then scanned the gift card and told me that the gift card was invalid. This confused me, as it was a new gift card. So, I told him "no problem" and went to pay with my credit card.
After I paid with my credit card, I noticed the price was the price before the coupon. I asked him why the price not the coupon price. "That is the coupon price," he said. I then asked him to look at the coupon. He lifted up the coupon from the previous person which was for "1" subway sandwich... Not even close to what I ordered. I told him that was the wrong coupon. He looked at it and I think he realized I was right, as he started looking around the register. After a moment of looking around, he said he couldn't find it, and just sat there for a moment, not saying anything and staring at me.
I ask him if he was going to fix the order. "I can't," he said. "The bar code would be invalid from being used, so it can't be used again anyways."
I then told him have the coupon sheet in the car. So, I went out to the car to get the coupon sheet. I brought that back and showed him an identical coupon on the coupon sheet. "The coupon sheet is expired," he said. "The expiration date is February 12." "The expiration date is February 22, not February 12," I replied. "Even if it was February 12, the coupon would still work, as that is what today is."
The other worker then came over to Nate and told him to just redo the order. And so he went through the order and scanned the other coupon and the correct price came up. "Shouldn't I be getting the cash back from the previous order?" I asked, nervous about using the card again. "The money should go back on the card," Nate replies. I then proceed to pay.
I then find that I was charged twice on my card. I won't be coming back to this Subway... At least while this Nate guy is...
Read moreGiving two stars because the sandwich was at least edible. After about a 6-month break from Subway, I decided to go back to this particular location. Not sure if there was a change of ownership, major staff turnover or what, but it definitely WASN'T the previous rockstar team who knew how to make a sandwich.
I ordered my usual footlong "Spicy Italian" (though the name had changed to something else a while back). Now I've had many Spicy Italians over the years, and this one sucked. There was barely any meat, and a ton of cheese. The sandwich was sloppily assembled and the "sandwich artist" clearly didn't give a damn about his job. Like I said, the sandwich was edible, but it was like I was eating a cheese sandwich... and a pretty crappy one, even by cheese sandwich standards.
What also struck me as really odd was they installed a metal "screen" at this location to shield the meats from view (this is in addition to the glass that is already covering the meats, so not like it's a health code thing). Not sure what's going on there, but one of the reasons people go to Subway is because you can see what's going into your sandwich. It's suspicious, to say the least.
Ok, fast-forward about 2 weeks and my wife asked if I wanted Subway for lunch while she was out running errands. I told her if (the aforementioned "sandwich artist") was working, just turn around and leave. Unfortunately, he was there and she didn't leave! She came back with another footlong Spicy Italian. As I unwrapped the sandwich, I paused, and in a moment of sympathy for my fellow man, I thought "Hmm, maybe he's new and my last experience was a fluke... a product of inexperience and poor training." I looked within, and reflected on my own experience in retail, my own mistakes throughout life, and considered that while I made mistakes, I always had another chance to course-correct and do better. I found solace in these thoughts as I proceeded to unwrap the sandwich.
Well, like a kid on Christmas, hoping for a pony from Santa, I was sorely disappointed. The sandwich was assembled exactly the same way as before. Same poor assembly, same meat deficiency, same cheese overdose. The sandwich sucked just as much as the last one. At least they're consistent.
This location used to consistently churn out good sandwiches from a staff that seemed to care about their jobs. This guy doesn't, and with the odd metal screen covering the meats, I suspect it's due to a change of management, extreme cost cutting, and low quality. I've given this location more money than they deserve and won't be going back until the next...
Read moreHorrible experience. Worst subway visit I've had in my lifetime and I've gone a lot in the last 20 years. The tiny short older lady refused to give me extra olives, she said she could only give me a small amount. Didn't offer extra charge, just said no we aren't allowed to do that. I only had 3 toppings. I told her forget it and started to leave, and she sassed and yelled at me the entire time as I walked out of the store. Weird control freak, should not be working there. I didn't come to be lectured by some old lady about wanting extra olives which I have ordered no problem for 2 decades. Never will come back...
