My husband wanted to try out some restaurant next door, something de Paris; however, that business is closed. I looked at the Crab Hut and saw the window signs for pho and bahn mi's. I told my husband, "Hey, why not try this place? Maybe it just moved locations or something." Completely different restaurant, but well worth it. The atmosphere is nice and relaxing with traditional vietnamese mix songs playing. The staff was really nice and I believe our waiter said they're brothers who run it. The food was phenomenal. My husband is Vietnamese, so we always try to find a Vietnamese restaurant that has true to flavor traditional food. Hands down one of the best Vietnamese restaurants we have ever been to. Fair pricing compared to other restaurants. Our waiter was really nice and gave us a sample to try of their Thai tea and passionfruit lemonade. Both of them were delicious and refreshing. They press the juices right there at the bar. The spring rolls and peanut sauce were really good. I like that it was both shrimp and pork. Most places will only do one or just chicken. The crispy tofu and sweet chili sauce was absolute heaven. I want to know how they got the tofu so crispy and perfectly golden brown. My husband was in heaven with his combination bahn mi and even ordered one to go. It's probably the most affordable place for a bahn mi as most places charge upwards of $8+ for 1. My filet mignon pho was amazing. The broth was perfect. I normally add soy sauce to my pho for added flavor, but this broth doesn't need anything extra, in my opinion. I ordered the medium bowl, and it was loaded with noodles and steak, more than what most pho places give you. Athens Pho is where The Crab Hut used to be, and at the time we went, during their soft opening, they're offering 10% off plus a free fountain drink. I highly recommend this place, and my family will definitely frequent this location for our go-to vietnamese dishes. You have to give this place a try, you...
Read moreI have been in Athens for a week and all week we have had southern comfort or American style food. As an Asian who loves Asian style food, I needed some pho in my life. I googled pho in the area and Athens Pho popped up. Their ranking is 4.9 so it has to be good!
Driving up to this joint, it looked familiar. This place used to be another seafood/Vietnamese joint last year. They were pretty good but it looks like new folks have rebranded and taken over.
Came in and was instantly greeted by a sweet man. He got me sat and I looked over the menu. As usual, I did check out their menu online so I had a general idea of what I wanted. I wanted everything! Bun thit nuong, bun bo hue and com ga nuong all sounded so good but I decided on some fresh rolls, a medium bowl of pho, a berry lemonade and a house special banh mi to go.
Not gonna lie, the fresh rolls were pre rolled. The texture of the rice paper was a little dry. It was rolled with a nice amount of rice noodles, bean sprouts, shrimp and pork. I appreciate the peanut sauce they served with it. It is was really good! My bowl of pho came out pipping hot! It had a generous amount of steak, brisket, meatballs and tendon. I love the fresh herbs that they served with my pho. The broth was very flavorful and rich. The noodles were cooked perfectly! Just add the herbs, jalapenos and Sriracha and it's perfection. I smashed that bowl so fast. It was delicious!
I can see why they have a high Google ranking. The staff was so nice! The food was great! And service was fantastic. I ordered a banh mi sandwich for later and I'm looking forward to tearing it up. If you're looking for a great Vietnamese joint to hit up, this is the joint to do it at! I will be back if we come...
Read moreCan’t recommend this place enough! We just ate dinner and even the kids are already planning when we can come back next.
The service is attentive, lightning-fast, and extremely friendly. Our waiter took our whole order by memory and I told him I was worried he couldn’t remember it all, but he showed up with it all exactly as ordered! Haha! Joke’s on me! ;) The atmosphere is calm and welcoming, and the space is very clean. Now, let’s talk about the food. The filet mignon pho is as good as what I’ve gotten in Viet Nam. The roast pork with white rice was delicious on its own, but when we added the clear sauce omg I DIED AND WENT TO HEAVEN. It was SO good. We ate all we could and then packed it up in to-go containers and had enough for at least 2 more meals, the portions are SO huge. I can’t wait until it’s Fall/Winter and all chilly and we can come get their amazing pho and breathe in the aromatic broth and savor the tender meat and get all cozy.
The berry lemonade with crystal boba is great, the coconut kumquat juice is yummy and very different (and 10 year-old approved). I had the lavender milk tea with crystal boba and will definitely crave it again soon. My husband got the Saigon Caffe and it is a coffee-lover’s dream, with a wicked hit of rich coffee. All in all, it is a fabulous restaurant and I hope it does extremely well, as it...
