the best tea in Athens --

I say this as a complete tea snob, as in I won't drink oversteeped tea and I care about what temperature different teas get steeped in because it really does change things, so if I want to drink tea I end up just making it myself at home since most places steep the hell out of their tea leaves -- for too long a time at too hot a water temperature -- so that the tea is bitter, astringent, full of tannins.

I'm very very pleased with BobaMania since everything tastes fresh (not from powder) and also steeped at proper temperatures. I always get 30% or 0% sugar and if your tea is poorly steeped you can always tell at this sugar level. The teas are maybe a little heavy on the milk for my taste but also all the teas I ordered were pretty light (green tea) so a heavier tea like Thai tea or black tea might balance out the milkiness better. Very good price for the quantity and quality, especially compared to the other boba places in Athens.

As for the vibes, I've been searching for a cafe that is open relatively late, serves good drinks and non-egregious prices, and has good lighting. For such a sunny state like Georgia, I don't know why I can't find establishments with good lighting, such that I can work without wanting to fall asleep in the dimness !! the owner is also super nice, affable, and lovely (he gave us free muffin too) and the employees that were on shift while I was there were also super lovely and friendly

🧋 Staff is friendly, and the drinks are great. Love that every drink comes with a topping by default! Each drink includes a thoughtfully chosen topping that complements it perfectly (a pleasant surprise that’s not mentioned on the menu).

💰 Pricing is super reasonable compared to other downtown boba spots. Unlike many places where you have to pay extra for toppings, here it's already included.

Tried Boba Gaga at the Tuscaloosa branch before. The menu's a bit different here. Wish they had that...

Awesome place to grab excellent boba drinks! The staff is very helpful and friendly, the space is clean and great for a quaint study space, and there are many different drink options to choose from. The tapioca bobas are more fresh than I've ever had, and have a very satisfying texture and flavor. I recommend the matcha milk tea, but my kids are big fans of the mango and strawberry...
