I moved here to the Athens area almost 2 years and let’s just say my only fear was leaving the Mexican food in my area, I eat Hispanic food everyday and very picky on the quality of food My first day here I went to 4 restaurants to try certain things and then driving around getting familiar with my surroundings and looking for Mexican restaurants I found La Montana and Omg it was absolutely wonderful I hated to admit it was better than my hometowns Mexican food place that I went to for 20 yrs The quality of the cheese is of the highest standards and the refried beans and dips are delicious and everything is fresh The guacamole is bright green and just right and fresh the lettuce is cold and crisp and cilantro is cut to order because of the great aroma it gives off when it’s cut into A day does not go by that I don’t at least tell 2-4 ppl about this restaurant and the service is spectacular no matter who serves me they know me by name and I know them by name. I’ve never had bad service here ever or under par service Ive tried 46 Mexican restaurants in Athens and some in Atlanta and other surrounding cities or towns and nothing has come close. This restaurant was discovered when I was try to get familiar with the Lexington road area on my lunch so they are 5-7 mins from work but on days off or anything when I’m at home 45 mins away. It’s worth the drive which im off on Friday Saturday and Sunday I go get food on Friday and eat my extra into the next day and then Sunday I go back to get more food. Everything I do as far as driving or making extra money if I need it is well worth eating here. I have had recommendations of other places ppl like and I will try it but nothing has come close everything I love I can get from this restaurant. Before sometimes I would go to 2 or 3 different restaurants to get what I liked better of a certain thing that’s better than the other restaurant but La Montana has everything that I love I give y’all 10 stars on food, pricing, service atmosphere. Thank you for being great as you all...
Read moreUpdate!: a year ago I had written a review based on a bad day I had on a taco tuesday on my third or so time coming through. Everything I had said is out the door and gone and I can tell you that despite me having a favorite restaurant in town already, this place has definitely given me a reason to reconsider! They are friendly, wonderful food, best prices anywhere, and I almost feel guilty for ever writing my first review which I had forgotten about a long time ago. I recommend at least going by one time as soon as you can! They treat me and my girlfriend as regulars every time we come by and we try to show up at least two times a week! Thanks guys!
Today was the taco Tuesday .99 cent tacos. I went in and was first at the front. I had two groups pass me as they offered them a seat. I was getting food to go, so I just let it go. Eventually a waiter came to take my order and was acting like I was a burden to him. I asked if the taco Tuesday counted to go, and he snapped back that it was as if I should already know that. My mom doesn't eat meat so I asked if they could do a bean one and he told me they only do beef or chicken. I asked how about an enchilada and he answered, clearly annoyed, that it had to be beef or chicken. Finally he accepted the bean taco and asked what else. I told him I wanted one chicken taco for my friend and 3 beef ones for me. He snapped back saying how many tacos did I want, as if people always tell them a total number for three orders combined (example : imagine 3 combo orders and having to tell them you wanted 3 combos before you told them what they were). At that point I told him to forget it and I would go across the street and tossed the menu in front of him and walked out. Straight up jerk. I like their food and every other time they have been good, but this guy was more rude than I have dealt with at a...
Read moreportions are quite small. (We both got a combo). You could see the bottom of the plate which is normally not the case for a Mexican restaurant. No desserts on the menu which is one of our favorite parts about getting Mexican between churros + flan. Asked server to confirm since menu had no area saying desserts and he said “no desserts.” Service was okay. Was not checked on after food came. They did not have kid cups or booster seats. No kid menu option either. Upon checking out we gave the 20% off coupon they run in the little coupon books and was given a really hard time about it. First was asked “is this even for this restaurant?” And once we pulled the coupon book out to show (mind you they had a whole stack of these on the check out counter), he shoved the whole stack they had under the counter and went to get someone else to help us. Wish the customer service was better and wish it was kid friendlier. Food was okay, not the best or worst we have had in Athens. Normally we give a place a second chance after it’s been open awhile, but after the rudeness I am unsure if we will ever return. Too many Mexican places in Athens to risk having this kind of...
