Hwy 55 Burgers Shakes & Fries — Restaurant in Athens

Fabulous! We were met at the door by an employee who opened the door for us. We were immediately seated and drink orders taken. Fresh, real, lemonade and a Mountain Dew. The waitress then took our order at the table, a unique pimento burger and tots for my wife and I had a build your own burger with provolone, mayo, mushrooms and grilled onions with fries. The food was served at the table, done to perfection and delicious. The restaurant was clean and comfortable. The music was good and played at a good volume, just loud enough to enjoy but not so loud you needed to raise your voice to carry on a conversation. The dessert was the coup de gras! Strawberry concrete! All this at a price similar to a fast food joint where you stand in line for a "I don't care" attitude from kids that make no effort to clean the place and only have...

I’ve been eating at Hwy 55 since they opened. They came out of the box strong with great food, exceptional service, and an awesome American Diner atmosphere. But, over the past 3 months or so, the quality of food has decreased dramatically with burgers being soggy, chicken strips being dry with the batter crumbling apart, and the fries come out tasting a little stale. The service is still pretty good, but not the same exceptional level that it used to be. The atmosphere has gotten lazy with a few July 4th and Halloween decorations coexisting with the fall/Thanksgiving décor. A few months ago I would’ve told everyone to come eat here, but now I only recommend people try it for themselves and don’t get your hopes up. I will never go back. Ordered chicken tenders kids meal for my son. They where way over cooked to the point they where dry and hard to eat also found a bone sliver in one. The fried pickles where greasy and soggy. Fries where unsalted. So where the tots. The onion rings batter was un seasoned and flavor less. The portions where skimpy and food was over priced for size and quality. Only got 2 tenders in the kids meal and a pinch on fries for 6.99? Nope. We're cool on that. Burgers where ok. But same as 5 guys. Not worth it. Spent $35 for two burgers a half and half fries and onion rings, fried pickles and a chicken tenders kid meal. The service was ok, not rude.
