Athens only Italian offering is quite good for an Athens Restaurant but a bit average on a wider scale. Mostly it is pasta and sauce offerings.
Food - Appears to be processed Restaurant Supply house quality. The Eggplant Parmigian was very thin and had the consistency of tough sliced mushrooms. The Fettuccine Alfredo was good but forgettable. Beef lasagna was the best offering with good flavor, consistency and temperature. The chicken Parmigiano was slightly better than the eggplant. The bread was very good.
Service- The waitress was quick with drinks and bread except for the hot mulled wine. It was chilly out and sounded great. The mulled wine for some reason took 20 minutes and arrived after dinner. Basically it was wine with a cinnamon stick dropped in it and microwaved for a bit then left to cool I guess. The dinner order arrived incorrect but was fixed faster than any wrong order we have ever had anywhere.
Price - $25 each with tip. Not too bad for an edible meal.
This is our 4th outing with them and not sure we will be back. Honestly not sure how much is their fault and how much is covid related disruption of the industry. They seem to be doing worse than when they...
Read moreFirst, for anyone driving in from out of town; (We came from Huntsville) typing the address as they have it listed (on the Terranova’s Google page) into Google Maps took us way out in the country no where near the restaurant. Later we discovered that if we only put 100 US-31 without adding the S.south took us to the correct location. If Google Maps gives anyone else problems with finding it, it’s near Athen’s Middle School, McDonald’s, and in a shopping strip between HomeTown Grocery and Discovery Church, and it IS on 31 - north of 72. Hope that helps someone else!
We are long time fans of Terranova’s from their Huntsville location! The fresh quality of delicious food, drink selections, and wonderful service are still superb! I will say this new location is a bit smaller and maybe a bit louder when busy compared with our experience at the Huntsville location, but the decor still recalls the Italian eclectic style and is very comfortable. We are still fans, and now that we know how to get there, we will...
Read moreWe did not have a great experience. We were having a send off dinner for my son who’s going overseas for a year and decided to try Terranovas in Athens to support a restaurant near us. When we arrived, there was about a 45 minute wait which was perfectly understandable on a Friday night. When we were seated, we ordered a bottle of wine and appetizer. This is when we began noticing a slight annoyance that we were taking too long to eat and leave. We felt rushed the rest of the time there. By the time we finished our meals, It was around 8:30 so not terribly late. The food was fine and nobody was outwardly rude. We just all felt like we were annoying the restaurant staff by being there. When you’re trying to celebrate a special night and spending money, that’s not how you want a restaurant experience to be. Maybe don’t take guests past a certain time to ensure they get...
