The C. I. — Restaurant in Athens

Do not go to this bar. Their staff is violent and rude. I dropped my wallet at the door, and paid the price to get in, but had to step foot outside to get my wallet. The staff would not let me in unless I paid them AGAIN and when I told my boyfriend that clearly they were going to refuse us service though we had just paid, the male at the door said "yeah GO". It's one thing If I had not been inside yet, or that I had not come outside from inside the bar where they clearly charged me, but I paid, they refused service, AND the staff was rude as well. Do not go in this bar. It is cramped and loud. The servers are rude and uncaring. It is not worth dumping money into. What a joke. Hire people that encourage patronage, not actively...

My wife went to school at Ohio University... and we were in town with 5 other friends for four days enjoying the local roads (on our motorcycles) and enjoying the town every afternoon and evening.

We visited the CI twice while in town. Drank many beers and played many games of pool. A very welcoming local bar with great bartenders and great drink choices at great prices.

The ONLY issue was that the men's bathroom was in AWFUL shape both days that we visited. VERY dirty and stunk to high heaven... as if it hadn't been cleaned in months. It's summer break and there were no students around either time we were there... really just the seven of us... so no reason for it to be that nasty.

Claire the manager is the absolute worse. Makes the bar look like an absolute joke. Pre-covid, the bar was a great establishment. That’s not an excuse though. This girl literally makes the bar a joke of an establishment. I was going to this bar since I was under 21. She was in high school when I was running a muck.
