My score for the review is NOT ABOUT THE FOOD. It is Christmas 2023 weekend and I’m visiting my mother from out of town. Neither of us have ever been here. There were two women in front of us taking a while to order, but that was ok. One of the ladies told the woman server that she had an attitude, so she would prefer the white gentleman to take her order. Then the lady at the register was taking a long time to ring people up, which brings me to the problem. A drunk man, which we learned quickly was a regular, came in automatically just yelling at me & my mom about don’t give anyone trouble here & the food is good. I said, “ yeah, everyone has been nice.” Then, he goes on yelling like I said something bad, while this is happening the lady that the last customer had a problem with, came from behind the counter & started to console him, telling him to calm down. He called me all types of names, and mom said, “sir, this is my daughter, can we stay in the holiday spirit. He then kept yelling things about my looks, baby daddy, just nonsense. Meanwhile, this cashier still has not rung up our food! These men came out, but no one said anything. Then the drunk walked out and slammed their door. Then, while we are still waiting for this food to have a price tag so I can pay, the cashier & server lady started arguing about who was doing their job! She finally allowed me to pay. We walked out of the restaurant and that drunk man tried to run me & my 66 year old mother down with his white mustang! He started yelling again at me. I said nothing, my mom said nothing. Then, this old man with salt & pepper hair came out from the back & said, “what y’all jumping for? Is that your car?” Pointing to my SUV. Then he just walked back in restaurant. The drunk sped to other side & we hurried into vehicle. When we drove out, we saw the drunk go back In restaurant. Absolutely ridiculous. I’m only leaving this story in review because I wish a cop was called or that the black old dude didn’t come outside like & acted like it was a joke this man tried to run us over. That’s all. No food is worth dying or getting injured over due to negligence of employees not being professional enough to read the room and get people out in a timely manner. I have too much to lose to pull my gun out on idiots. Be safe out here. People are looking for fights. God bless you all! In...
Read moreWith absolute Discussed, I have to say that this was some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Do not go here—this place has completely tanked. I paid $15 for a veggie plate with three vegetables, only to receive barely two teaspoons of each. It took me only three bites to finish my food.
When I asked the man with the red hat—the chef or whoever was in charge of cooking—if I could have just a little more cabbage, he rolled his eyes and completely ignored me. I should have walked out and refused to pay because it was absolutely not worth $15. But no worries—they will never see me in that restaurant again. The way I was treated was disgraceful.
This was my first time at that restaurant, and they treated me like I was nobody. They charge astronomical prices while giving out tiny portions of food that cost them mere cents to make. Look at the pictures and judge for yourself. They serve meat dishes that cost less than what I paid for this pitiful plate. A whole head of cabbage costs no more than 50 to 60 cents, yet they refused to give me more than a couple of tablespoons.
I was absolutely furious. I will be telling everyone not to waste their time or money here. This place clearly does not care about its customers—only about squeezing every dollar out of them. That is disgraceful, and people deserve to know.
And let’s talk about the food itself—disgusting. That gray-looking mess on the left? Supposed to be lima beans. Since when are lima beans gray? Since when are they supposed to be served as soup? They were flavorless and inedible. The greens? Full of stems—clearly frozen, not fresh. If I’m going out to eat in Georgia, I expect real Southern home cooking, not frozen food disguised as homemade.
This place deserves ten thumbs down. Avoid it...
Read moreWe went to the Cafe but decided to leave after standing in that line for about 5 mins because we wanted to dine in. So we came to this location where the line was a bit shorter. I got baked turkey wings and dressing with collards and macaroni n cheese. The wings had too much fat under the skin and not enough meat and they were BLAND. The dressing was also a bland cornbread base with bland gravy on top. A little seasoning ain't never hurt nobody. The collards were the texture I like (not overcooked) but they were sitting in oil???? The mac n cheese had way too many hard pieces of pasta and a velveeta taste to it. My husband (greedy) got an oxtail plate with white rice and macaroni n cheese and collards. He ALSO got a beef short rib plate with dressing n gravy along with yams and potato salad. I tasted the oxtails, they were TOUGH as leather. I also tasted the short ribs, they were tender but had too many pieces of fat for the price. The flavor on both were ok AT BEST. He liked the yams, because he was so disappointed in the meals he didn't even want to try the potato salad. Once we got back to my daughter's my son n law did and said it had a “sweet" taste to it which he didn’t like. As we were eating the line got longer so it is the "go to" spot for "soul food" in Atlanta it's just not what a Chicago Girl eats or cooks. For $100 it was not only a waste of time it was $$ down the drain bc that mess went to the trash. I'm learning the locals like bland food that that won't pass in Chicago so I think it's best to stop trying these places and just go to the market, even...
