I want to start by saying I specifically love this location and the atmosphere for the most part. Today I took my autistic 3yo with me and there was a line outside the door. I had my partner go to the bar and order food while I went to the bathroom with my toddler. When I came back we were refused service at the bar where I tried to explain to the bartender that I had an autistic child and I was just trying to put my order in so we can be in and out and he wouldn’t be overstimulated and possibly caused a scene in the establishment. He totally understood and was very compassionate although seemingly terrified of getting in trouble with management. He suggested he asks permission from a manager and I agreed that’s an awesome idea because ultimately I hate that I have to even single myself out as a special needs parent. The manager Ashley approached me seemingly irritated and as soon as I began explaining my situation to her all I got out was “I looove grindhouse and I hate to have to do this but I have an autistic child” and she interjected with “yeah, so is my boyfriend” which is called deflecting not to mention dismissive and I’m sure her boyfriend isn’t 3 years old. She proceeded to tell me the rules and how there wasn’t many ppl in the line which definitely died down since I arrived and her lack of regard really saddened me especially as someone who has an autistic person in their life. I told her their was a line and when we first arrived and she said was like yeah well now you can wait and order at the line again very dismissive and not showing an ounce of compassion. I went to the line alone because I honestly just needed a breather and left my family at a table. I comfirmed that there was a bit of a line not too long before my order was taken and the cashier was very kind, compassionate and apologized on behalf of the manager which absolutely made me feel seen as an actual person. Your manager Ashley failed me today and I’m very disappointed. I will keep telling my story until I hear back from someone because I think it’s very unprofessional to treat people the way Ashley treated me today. She’s a horrible representation for Grindhouse but she would be great at Vortex on Moreland or Peachtree where they’re known to be friendly a**holes, which is apart of the experience. I came here instead because I thought it would be more family friendly which it absolutely is but no one else was treated us like we didn’t matter but Ashley. I hope & pray she’s more compassion towards her ausome boyfriend and my son never brings home someone that uses him as a reason to disregard others. I can’t even eat right now, I’m...
Read moreI've been here plenty of times (Memorial Drive location). The open atmosphere and the outside bar option appeal to me the most. I've never had any service issues, though others have shared they have. However, Saturday, June 31, 2025, I had a terrible service encounter. I was headed to a class in Buckhead, traffic was horrendous, and fast food lines were extremely heavy. So, I placed a pick-up order to GHKB, which I completed once I arrived on site. I waited outside trying to find a park, eventually went in, washed my hands, and sat for a few before going to the bar to see if my food was ready. The order was guaranteed within 15 minutes of when it was placed. Mine was placed at 2:20 PM, so I went to see if it might be ready early at 2:30 PM. The curly headed caucasian lady behind the bar said there were no orders brought there yet, and she looked in the system to see if any were up. Immediately, as I was leaving her, the gent brought my food out. She asked for the name on the order when we spoke, and seconds later my food came out. She sat my bag down and let it sit there for 5 minutes. Meanwhile, I am seated at the closest table next to the bar, I could see the bag and if another one was placed there. I could also see her (it was a very slow period at the bar, and she seemed to have just been bar-backing). As soon as the clock turned to 2:35 PM, she grabbed the same bag and brought it to me. She did that on purpose.
I didn't say anything to her, but rather, I called the manager as soon as I got to my car. I explained the situation, and he completely missed this as a service failure; making excuses for what possibly could have happened ("maybe she was busy", "maybe she overlooked it", "maybe there were other orders up there")...just shooting a lot of fluff in the air. I told him he lacked empathy and was not addressing the service failure. Then he proceeds to ask, "but is everything good with the order". I replied, well for starters, my fries aren't as hot as they could have been since they sat for an extra 5 minutes (as if I was late to pick-up my order). I share that wasn't my initial concern, so now he finally offers me a cliche apology. I told him, he would hear this complaint again, hence this review. I wasn't surprised to see that someone else had a similar complaint just 2 months ago. Seems, the owners & management either do not inspect what that expect or set high expectations for good customer service.
In all, GHKB is a chill place, but the service could be better. Though the concept for the burgers is good, however, the taste of their burgers is bland (requires heavy...
Read moreYou know how sometimes you just want a burger? Not just any burger, but a thick, well seasoned, quality meat, patty shaped burger! Ummmmmm.
Let me backup, as Grindhouse sits on the main road, it is super easy to find. The parking is extremely limited, especially for the size of the restaurant, however, after 8 trips around the block, I found a park. Once parked, we noticed that the line was out the door, to add to that, there was only one cashier. Yet, not to worry, Grindhouse has a bar and we decided to sit at it. LoL!!
As Wednesday was one of those days for me that I had to have a burger, I was excited to scroll the menu. After a morning full of meetings, deciding to grab Grindhouse for lunch was an amazing idea. Now, though I wanted a burger, I didn’t want the heaviness that comes with the art of a good burger. To my joy, I didn’t have that to worry about as Grindhouse had me covered.
The menu takes you through the step by step process of creating your food driven work of art. I crafted the following,
Patty: Beef Temp: Well Done Bread: Lettuce Fixings: Mustard, Ketchup, Mayo
Order Placed. Mouth Watering. Stomach Growling. Ha!
The bartender was super pleasant and truly created an inviting environment. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was upbeat and vibrant. It was filled with a mix of staffers on lunch break as well as families just enjoying a day out. Though there is a bar, the tone is not that of a sports bar at all. Somehow Grindhouse has found a way to mix the All-American Restaurant vibe with the look of a Indoor-Outdoor Sports Bar. I love it.
When my burger arrived, immediately I knew the camera had to eat first. There was no way that after my first bite I would remember to take a picture. Thus, I paused for the foodie photoshoot then proceeded to devour my burger.
I’m Talking, SMASHEDDDDDDDDDDDDD!
Perfectly Done. Perfectly Seasoned. Moist. Meaty. High Quality. And most importantly, not just a basic burger.
This burger was bite after bite of joy, happiness, and mouth pleasing burst of bite activity. Listen, even the lettuce was good. It was crunchy, fresh, and the perfect size. My my my. I want another one now.
Though I didn’t order any sides, I was not hungry. The burger was filling and flavorful, and did exactly what I needed it to do.
Dear Grindhouse… Job well done! See you again...
