Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in Atlanta

I had a deeply uncomfortable and upsetting experience yesterday at the Tropical Smoothie Café on Memorial Drive. While I was inside, I witnessed a disturbing incident involving a female customer who simply asked to use the restroom. At first, the male employee behind the counter—who claimed to be the owner—told her the restroom was for paying customers only. She then made a purchase, yet even after that, he still refused to let her use the restroom.

What made the situation even worse was that he physically blocked her from entering, standing in front of the door and repeatedly taunting her by saying she couldn’t use “his” bathroom. The customer was visibly frustrated and upset, and it was incredibly disheartening to see her being treated this way, especially when she had already complied by purchasing something.

What struck me the most was that not a single other employee stepped in to de-escalate the situation or defend her. In fact, their behavior only seemed to escalate things further. This was a woman being physically barricaded from a restroom by a man in front of a store full of customers. To make matters worse, there was already a group of women inside the restroom who, from what I could tell, had not made a purchase—making the denial of access even more questionable.

The woman eventually walked away while the employee continued to taunt her. I was already unsettled by seeing bugs inside the restaurant, but witnessing this incident made it clear that I will never return to this location—or any Tropical Smoothie Café. It is unacceptable for staff, especially someone claiming to be an owner, to treat a paying customer in such a cruel and antagonistic way. This owner should learn that a little empathy and kindness can go a long way. Absolutely disgusting behavior...

This is my 1st ever time having visited this location that being said it was definitely the best experience i’ve had among all the locations that I have visited despite perhaps because it’s locally owned and operated but still I must say the kindness and generosity that was shown there was by far the one of the best displays and im not playing this down either but these people deserve nothing but the best I can see why there rated 5 stars on here and for the paid parking lot across the street they will validate with a parking ticket for up to two hours not sure whether any reviews happened to mention that but it worked in my favor to bring forth kindness so that it was exuded back upon me I plan on visiting this location more and more henceforth from this written review and a future one being I forgot the names of the individuals I believe the guy was Terry whom was present and handed me my order being it was a pickup his wife wasn’t present at the counter but to close this review which as is which has likely already been to get lengthy although to deserve the merit given being how humble and respectful this establishment is I wish the other smoothie shops would follow suit as i have yet to have a negative experience in the years I have bought from Tropical Smoothie Cafe can’t say the same for the other places though Smoothie King and Planet Smoothie are fine they just can’t beat the quality and ingredients put forth in what this company does seriously not sure what any of these people make but it’s an A+ in all categories from me so keep doing what you guys are doing it’s really working for me and many others apparently too thank you and I wish the utmost best...

This was my first time at this location, but it definitely won’t be my last. The three young ladies working here are amazing & have excellent customer service! Each one of them greeted me with a smile & was so professional, friendly and helpful.

I watched how they prepared each item, cleaning as they went and making sure that the presentation of the food was on point, not just thrown into a container. Their attention to detail was wonderful to see. The food was hot, fresh and delicious, which is always the case with Tropical Cafe Smoothie.

I work in customer service and pay close attention to how workers treat their product & customers. I was very pleased with my experience today & will be sure to come back. Whoever manages this location has an amazing team working during the lunch shift. Great job,...
