[Cold Prime Rib + Sarcastic Manager] TLDR; The manager tried to get by with the first overcooked steak even after he noticed, and replaced with another cold steak with hot Au Jus. Undercooked onion rings and when asked about it, manager sarcastically joked “You wanna get a job back here”? Ordered a 10 oz prime rib with a side of fries, and an extra side of onion rings. The man who served the first steak, whom I assumed is the manager since he’s not wearing black shirt as other staffs did, replaced the steak and told me “I told them it’s over cooked but they wouldn’t listen” indicating the manager noticed the issue but tried to get by. And the second steak was perfect medium rare but is cold as well. Literally as cold as the plate. I asked about it again, and the manager offered a hotter Au Jus, said they literally just pulled the steak out from the cooker, which is used to maintain the heat, so this is as hot as it can be. And they couldn’t reheat the steak since it’ll over cook the steak. Then tell me people usually reheat the steak with the Au Jus and offered a hotter Au Jus. This sounds weird to me since at least from my experience the prime rib is not supposed to serve cold, and even Outback was able to serve it hot, but still makes sense to me and I accepted. I didn’t finish the steak since it’s really just cold and un-appetite, and I was craving for some hot food so I ordered another side of onion rings The batter was chewy and slightly undercooked, and the onion itself was blend. Later on, the manager checked in again and see if the hotter Au Jus worked for me, I shook my head and tell him about the undercooked onion rings. The manager joked “You wanna get a job back here?” with a hint of sarcasm. I truly hope i was wrong about the prime rib temperature and manager’s attitude, but overall it’s a horrible dining experience and would not recommend nor return.

Are you a snob? Do you stick out your pinky out when you hold your glass? If so do not come here. Highland tap is an Atlanta institution. It has a below 4 score on Yelp yet on every nite you go the place is slammed. Why? It’s an outdated as hell restaurant, a time capsule into the 90s. I always tell my friends it is impossible to have a bad time at Highland Tap. Went on a Man Date and we both had the time of our lives. One got the Rib Eye, the other got the prime rib. We cut it in half and shared. I’ve been coming here for 15 years and first shot at the prime rib. Y’all, it’s the best I’ve ever had. We sat at the bar, and the bar tender asked us if we have ever been. I told here Highland Tap is my happy place. I got my dirty martini with Blue cheese stuffed olives and smiled away. Bottom line, food snobs stay away. This is a locals spot, who absolutely adore this place. Update Had the meatloaf this time and it was real solid. Alexis is the beet waiter I have had in years. She helped get us a table, she also moved us to accommodate when another person showed. She was prompt and handled out party with ease. We all made sure to tip her well.

Decided this would be the location of my Birthday dinner as it's always good, a bit of an eclectic/aged setting, and my friends had not dined here before. Service was great, food impeccable, crowd vibrant. I had the fried chicken breast with sweet potatoes and subbed asparagus for the steamed vegetables. A pretzel appetizer was ordered for the table and came with appropriate amounts of both mustard and beer cheese dips. Drinks were priced fairly, not cheap or overpriced, and served timely. Desert was complimentary for my birthday and a chocolaty cheesecake was chosen; given the choice again I would've tried the red velvet cake but the decision had been left up to the table. I'll definitely be dining here again! Not restaurant specific, but it kills me at the 20 something year old women that show up in yoga pants for dinner; partners in jeans, khakis, or even dress slacks but definitely better dressed for the situation. Fair warning that despite being what I would consider a far above average restaurant in every aspect, the crowd and age range in this area often treats it as just the neighborhood pub.

▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎PLEASE stick with This Review! As it IS Well worth the read I Promise 😉▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎

So... This was my 3rd time now coming here & I plan on coming here EVERY TIME I'm in the midtown area (as I can only come when I'm in this area because I live 45+ min away out by Dallas/Douglasville in Paulding County, otherwise I would most certainly come here even more! It's THAT Good!)

I MUST SAY THAT ▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎HIGHLAND TAP▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎ IS MORE THAN WORTH THE $$ FOR THE AMAZING, DELICIOUS FOOD AS WELL AS THE AMAZING & WONDERFULLY FRIENDLY SERVICE ALONE!! And YES!! The atmosphere is beautiful AND relaxing in the best possible way as well & it is perfect for the esthetic they have, being they were an Old "Speakeasy" back in the day..."

All the employees are Always So Very Welcoming and Wonderfully Nice [Even the last waiter I had the Last time I was there with my mum remembered Me & managed to come by & say "hello again"-- & ALL waiters I've had there were just Great btw] and the food... OMG! The food is SOO ABSOLUTELY De-Li-Cious (Delicious! I Tell Ya!) Chefs Kiss!!

ALL of the food My family & I have tried so far has been SO Amazing, SO Tremendously Delicious... & if you like veggies you Absolutely MUST TRY their Asparagus as it was so SOO DAMN GOOD and PERFECTLY COOKED! & the sauce on it.. Well THAT was spectacular!

...AND... Also, If you just simply LOVE🩷 Desserts Or you just LOVE❤️ Desserts that are NOT TOO overly Sweet... Ones that are SO Delicious with the perfect consistency AND taste, then YOU MUST TRY their "RASPBERRY CHOCOLATE MOÚSSE CAKE" because you are in for a memorable, yummy treat! (Btw; it is NOT a "cake" in the TYPICAL sense of that word--Just the consistency of Pure Perfection & the Yummiest, Most Mouth Watering, MOUSSE dessert akin to a beautifully perfected mousse in the shape of "Cheesecake" really--So a "Moussecake" 😉 Haha) AND IT WAS A HUGE SLICE TOO!

--LASTLY-- The [alcoholic] beverages were also amazing every time. So props to the bartender there. You definitely get more bang for your buck here as I ordered my usual "Dirty [Greygoose] Martini" and they didn't just fill my martini glass & call it a day as Most restaurants & bars typically do now... Oh No, No, No... You ALSO get the rest of the shaken beverage in another glass which was chilled in ice (which made me 3 martinis basically for the price of one!) So I was pleasantly surprised by this as well!

▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎HIGHLAND TAP▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎ off North Highland Ave. in Midtown Atlanta is ALL AROUND PERFECTION Y'ALL! NO LIE! The Food is Perfection... The Service is Perfection... The atmosphere is Perfection... Even the drinks were Perfection... And I would NOT just say that unless it was 1,000% TRUE!! ...It is An Absolute MUST if you're in the North Highland Ave. &/Or Midtown Area. TRUST ME •••••YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! 😊•••••

PS----》Go ahead and Let them know that SARAH the "Disabled" Hobblin' Cane carryin' Tiny Gal with the Extremely Platinum White Blonde hair & the Extremely "BENT" [forward] Back Sent You! Haha... From Google Reviews... YESSS!! SERIOUSLY! If you say that most of them will probably know who you are talking about as that is my exact description & I take no offense [So NO Worries Darlins'] as I am proud to be how I am AND MOST OF ALL WHO I AM \😊/ ...PLUS... It IS kinda easy to remember a tiny woman with my definite kooky personality, my bright platinum white hair, & whose back & bones are literally stuck forward... YES my spine and bones are "stuck" (or have fused) bent forward at basically a 45°+ angle from having an extremely rare form of an Autoimmune & bone disease I was unfortunately born with called 'Ankylosing Spondylitis' SO BASICALLY MOST PEOPLE REMEMBER ME DUE TO THESE FACTORS (& I DONT MIND-Haha)

SO PLEASE, DEFINITELY TRY THIS PLACE!! ENJOY YOURSELF 😉 [In Life AND Food] HAVE A GREAT TIME! ...AND... IF ANYTHING... JUST BE ADVENTUROUS & REMEMBER THAT LIFE IS FAR TOO SHORT TO...

this was without a doubt the worst place I’ve ever eaten both food and service wise.

Came from out of town, but reviews were great online so I made reservations. I told the girl upfront 6 because I did not count my baby (my own fault, he was just gonna sit on my lap anyways), we arrived on time but my dad had to park the car so it took him a second to get in. The guy working the host stand seemed EXTREMELY aggravated with us after I asked explained it was really 7 with the baby, but he would be sitting on my lap. we didn’t have a stroller, car seat or any extra bags we brought inside with us so it didn’t seem like an issue to me. I’ve served and managed at restaurants and anywhere I’ve worked we never had this issue when someone doesn’t count the baby, and if was an issue we could have found somewhere else to eat, no big deal. Anyways, we stand to the side waiting for our guest that was parking the car while the female & male host stood at the host stand talking LOUDLY and RUDELY about us while I was 2 feet away! Our menus were then slammed down onto the table with a huff and a puff then we were sat. The server came up and poured us waters with no “hi, hello, how are you” or ANYTHING. he came back and said “so do you guys want drinks”, he was EXTREMELY unfriendly and acted like he was annoyed that we were there the entire time.

Let’s get to the food.

Ordered the oysters, shrimp cocktail & French onion soup for an appetizer. Shrimp cocktail was great Oysters tasted like they’d gone bad and were horrifically fishy. French onion soup was decent, very sweet though.

We ordered the largest steak on the menu to split & crab cakes for the table. We ordered medium rare and the steak came out an astounding blue rare with NO seasoning on it. We had to saw it to cut it open and whenever we did it had the purplish tint. I could have overlooked the temperature and had it cooked longer if it wasn’t for the fact it had absolutely no seasoning, no salt pepper or anything. The Mac and cheese with it was just penne noodles with some melted bag cheese on it. The crab cakes were HORRIFIC and cost $32 for something that no doubt came out of the freezer. The hollandaise that was served with them was ice cold, the asparagus was cold, undercooked and had absolutely no seasoning on it either! The manager did kindly take the steak off for us and we returned it to the kitchen & we paid for the rest of the food, cut our losses and still tipped the server despite his...

I stopped here for lunch with my hubby and we were blown away, the food and service are outstanding. My only regrets are that I could not eat more and we live so far away! (We may need to move.)

We decided to share a bunch of appetizers because we just could not choose. There are a bunch of great local beers on tap, no surprise we could not choose there either. Our waitress was kind enough to bring us tasters of several beers. I hope in the future they will add flights and half pours because all the beers were great.

The food came quickly and the waitress staggered our servings so we had time to enjoy our appetizers one or two at a time. The escargot was perfectly done in cheese butter and with a little puff pastry on top. We felt like we were back in NOLA eating the oysters Rockefeller. The carpaccio was delicate and delicious with toast made from good bread. We were excited to find smoked trout. The trout was a little on the salty side as smoked fish tend to be but very good and served with more good toasted bread.

For our grand finale we ordered the slow roasted prime rib, what a treat! The steak was so tender and juicy. The flavor was beautiful and neither of us could bear to use the dipping sauce.

After lunch we were able to talk to the chef about the slow cooking process he used. He told us exactly what he does and offered to get us in touch with his supplier so we could get the same cut of meat to do at home. We could not believe he would be kind enough to do something like that!

A couple of tips for visiting. The front entrance has a bunch of stairs. If you or anyone in your party struggles with stairs use the back entrance, there is a ramp. There is free parking in the back but I would call to find out exactly where it is because the lot is divided into paid and unpaid. We had already found free street parking so we did not use the lot.

I cannot wait to come back to this place. If you you are a foodie you really need...
