Not a very ethical store: I suggest others do not shop here since they say I should have seen their “no refunds” sign, faintly written on a chalk board, not readable from the cash register. They would not issue a refund for a dress I purchased just a few days earlier. When I said I did not see the sign, I was told, “sales clerks usually mention the policy and it’s printed on the receipt [after the sale].” I’d prefer to have a refund, but now I have a credit - and have no need or interest in shopping there. If we had been told of the policy or seen the obscure sign, we would not have made the purchase. They were pleasant in their refusal, but I prefer to shop at stores who are more transparent and treat their customers better. * see their reply below saying they post their policy behind the register- and see if you can find it. Oh, it’s faintly written and hidden in the corner. And what good does posting a policy on a receipt after the purchase? This store’s “apology” makes them look even worse. I was fortunate to stumble across Urban Cottage several years ago while visiting Virginia Highland. The store was so charming we had to go take a peak. I had just purchased a new home and needed help furnishing. Gail, the owner, and her husband have been a great help over the past 3 years, working with me to find items that fit my home and budget. I found Gail and Steve to be 2 of the most endearing, honest people I have worked with. In addition, they have refinished pieces for me, and have arranged for pieces to be built just for my space. Gail is professional and I could trust that if things did not fit well, she would make it right. Urban Cottage is my favorite furniture and design shop in Atlanta! The owners and designers are incredibly warm and very client-friendly. If you have a particular need, they offer their expert opinion and provide you options both in store and online and will place the order for you. They also have exceptional rugs! When you stop in, be sure to go downstairs to view so many beautiful options. They allow customers to bring the rugs home and try them in their space prior to purchasing which I have never experienced at any other home furnishing store.
