While this pizza was not perfect the things it did right were extraordinary. The only negative would be I wish is was saucier. I turned my grill up full blast and reheated the slice for 1 min 32 1/2 seconds to creat that fresh out the oven texture. We also had the whole wheat, a notoriously thirsty dough, that may have soaked up some of that tomato saucy goodness. Flavor was top notch and the ingredients chosen for toppings are indulgently on point and nutritious. Enough hemp seeds to offset the price of the entire pie! An other good sign is there was a third pie that was full of veggies that we finished before I realized I should take a picture! Overall I would say you need to check it out, especially if you are not only looking for a non cheese pizza option but a healthier pizza option

Just moved into the area and saw this place on the corner and knew I had to try it out. Had a slice of the Grandma pizza with pep & mushrooms and it was amazing. You get a solid portion for the price, and the dough quality and texture/lightness was amazing. Honestly can’t recommend this place enough just on the quality and affordability of their single slices alone but I am eager to try out one of their specialty za’s now that I know the ingredients and execution are solid! Update: came back the next day it was so good to try a different topping combo (Chorizo & Cotija for a mildly spicier profiled slice) and it was just as good as the first experience!

The order took a little longer than quoted (10 min) maybe. We live 3 minutes away. When we got the pizza it was lukewarm. Cool enough that the cheese had congealed. The wing bread was also barely warm. The crust was excellent. Even cold. They’re a very very light sauce place. Which I enjoy but even I was glad I got a side of marinara. I think when it’s piping hot. The pizza has potential but for $30 a pie. I expected a lot more. I got a pizza, wing bread, and a slice and it was over $50. For the price, quality wasn’t there. My grandmother has no teeth and can’t tolerate dairy and she said her slice with vegan cheese was delicious.

I was so excited to try this place. I love that they use local ingredients and have vegan options. I got the Pizza Loca, a seasonal pizza with salsa verde, corn, cabbage, daikon radish, lemon onions, and picante. I chose the house made cashew cheese, and they were out of the white dough, so I got whole wheat. Let me tell you this pizza was the pizza that non-vegans think vegan eat. It was basically a salad on some bread. It was dry and flavorless. The cashew cheese wasn't saucy, and I couldn't taste it at all. It seemed as though it baked into the dough. I was so disappointed with it that my friend and I ended up picking up a vegan pizza from Ammazza. Maybe this one was not thought-out well, and their other pizzas are great. I would be willing to try them out again but maybe with the shredded vegan cheese. They should really take a lesson from Ammazza and make their house made vegan...

I love this place! I've been a fan of La Calavera for many years now, was thrilled when they moved to my neighborhood and was then so sad when they closed up shop. But though there was sorrow through the night, joy came in the morning when La Calavera returned and brought us the pizza we didn't even know we needed! Delicious, beautiful, soulful combinations of crust, cheese, and toppings with the marvelous energy of owner Dale up front make this place one of my favorites! And bonus!!!! I can still buy their delicious sourdough bread when I go pick up my pie. (Though now they also offer delivery!!!) Also this is the ONLY pizza place I have visited that never messes up my order when i need half my pie without cheese for my daughter who doesn't eat it. 5...
