They seriously charge for chips and salsa at a Mexican restaurant? No thanks. Immediately ruined the experience and ill never come back. Seriously?! They are insane. Absolutely crazy. Free chips and salsa is the backbone of a mexican restaurant. after actually being dumb enough to order food since we were already there is as follows Also the queso has jalapeños and you cant get it without but they don’t tell you it has them. The cheese in the quesadilla wasnt melted but it was somehow nuclear hot. The chicken in the chimichanga was luke warm at the edges and actually cold in the center and everything, literally everything is spicy without mentioning it. Like why does the Mexican salad need to be spicy? Like just what is going on in this place?! Why do hipsters think they can make Mexican food? Absolutely just straight terrible. Also the sweet tea isn’t good. Failure on every level and a terrible experience. Don’t waste your time or money on this junk. Also the waitress basically cold shouldered us because the food was terrible. Like thats not my fault. It may not be her fault either but it definitely isn’t mine. Im still paying and tipping and didnt even ask for a discount(which they did give on the check without asking so that was pretty much the highlight of the meal) and i feel like thats pretty unprofessional. The owner needs to read this and fix their like idk everything. It should be a felony to do that to Mexican food and the Mexican restaurant experience
reply to owner cuz i cant find how to reply directly
So this is my problem with your reply, we asked for cheese dip without jalapeños and the waitress said that they didn’t have any without them and it was nit possible. Im fine with spicy food bur my fiancee and 2 year old son are not. You didn’t even mention why you think charging $3.50 to have chips and salsa at a Mexican restaurant is acceptable. And also made no mention of how rude our server was to us. The quesadilla was burning hot so it was not a heat issue but the cheese was still not melted. Which points to being in a microwave for whatever reason which makes no sense but neither does being super hot and the cheese not being melted. Like your reply seems you think spicy was the main issue. It was not. Main problem: charging for chips and salsa. Second problem: food quality ie: cold meat in my $14 chimichanga. Third issue: your waitress was very rude and seriously basically stopped talking to us because issues arose with the aforementioned items. Spicy was not the main problem. Apparently the waitress lied and said queso without jalapeños wasn’t an option. And i still tipped after all that and didn’t ask for a discount or cry about it so take this as an honest heartfelt review with literally nothing to be gained for me. I just gave an honest opinion of my experience and i really hope you take the points i made as serious issues and address them as such. I most certainly will never even consider returning but i wish you and yours the very best of luck cuz idk how you’ll make it with all the much better competition you have if you continue on the path i...
Read moreMy wife and I came here the night before Valentine’s Day to celebrate the upcoming holiday without all of the chaos. We apparently came in through the back door / covered patio but quickly figured out where to find the host who seated us after first having to clear a table. The place was pretty busy late on a Thursday evening. There was a bit of wait for the first visit by our waitress but once things got rolling, everything seemed to move along at just the right pace. Our food and drinks were brought out by at least 5 different people who were all hustling to keep things moving. The feel of this place is more like neighborhood bar/hangout w/ TVs on the walls and fairly loud music playing.
The food I had was mediocre but my wife’s food was pretty good. She had a dish with fried shrimp and big potatoes that was interesting and tasted good. I had queso that I’d rate as a 6 out of 10. Nothing wrong with it - just the white cheese milky flavored w/ jalapeño style that seems common in Atlanta. I’ll probably order it again next time I go. :P I also had stacked enchiladas which is hard to find these days. I ordered mine with beef and didn’t love it. Next time I will try chicken. Again, it was fine but the fried tortillas were almost too tough to cut through (stale?). The beef was standard taco style meat which I probably would have like more in their cleverly named “Mom’s Tacos”. My wife’s Paloma was very strong and my house margarita tasted like…well, a house margarita. Fine but nothing noteworthy about it.
We are new to Kirkwood and this place is 2 blocks away from our house. We will definitely be back and will explore more of the menu. Like I said, most of the food was fine, some of it even good but the service and setting were the main reason Elmyriachi is worth...
Read moreMy husband and I came in seen the podium that did not say seat yourself but we stood waiting for a second and just seated ourselves after about 5 minutes or longer the two servers finally stop looking at themselves and one of the server finally comes over gives us menu but upon arrival the two servers behind the bar no one greeted us after I even waved so while it was already awkward being the only two black people in the restaurant they didn't have good customer service but the server end up being sweet but this place isn't really a Mexican food place just someone's spin off of their take off Mexican food sadly then I paid $14 bucks for an overly large quesadilla with steak and shrimp by itself just for the cook to burn the hell out of the steak and maybe had 4-5 shrimp that was originally $6.75 and charged me $4 to add steak(burnt) and $4 to add shrimp then my husband order tacos now on the menus once again says $2 add on for tacos or maybe $2.50. He order smoked chicken tacos refried beans that needed water and rice for 10.75 then added on to fried chicken but charged $4.25 for both so $8.50 and then he had a sweet tea that they forgot to put sugar in (yuck) and maybe it was me but as much as I drink I couldn't drink their of the liquor the Margarita was too salty and I tried out a drink the server recommended and it tastes like medicine and mint but that's my opinion but we ended up spending $40 but it wasn't worth the money and i have a real problem when being charged prices that stated different on the menu than when paying for tab and we only stayed there for the time it took for the food to get ready and him to eat(not long at all) the atmosphere from walking in felt very uncomfortable and it made us not even want to sit and talk but I still not...
