Let me say this 1st. THIS IS THE BEST BBQ IN THE CITY!!! Hands down. I've eaten bbq at/from brick & mortars/food trucks/parking lots all over the city for yrs. I first had this bbq at the corner of Bankhead & Ozburn in a parking lot about 5 or 6 yrs ago. It was really good then but even better now that Stan is in the truck kitchen! Dude is a pitmaster/artist. It's hard to regulate cooking over wood. I don't have the patience for it & don't like the taste of lighter fluid/charcoal as much as wood so this is where I've been going. He gives you options most don't. Lamb chops. Ribeyes. He even had the nerve to introduce smoked oxtails. They sold out in an hrđ. Of course the ribs are lovely. The sides are amazing. Desserts on point. Just hope his wife makes that strawberry banana pudding. It makes me emotional thinking about it. I buy 4 whenever she blesses us with it. It's that delicious. The most succelent turkey legs you'll ever come across. Especially when that fat melts in it. But I'm really here to talk about the smoked turkey wings. Maaaaan listen.... BEST THING EVER!!! Yall know how that fat part of the wing can be hit or miss. Either too soft & mushy or cooked just right to where it's kinda firm. He has MASTERED cooking this part. The fat is firm but has pull. That little wing part is good too. Then he messed around & started doing chicken wing flavors on turkey wingsđ€đŸ Get there early & be patient. The line moves consistently but it can be long. Realize he's cooking some of the food & pulling it right off the grill & that takes time. Time worth waiting for. Chop it up with your line mates or watch the game on the TV. I'm there at least 2-3 times a month. You...
Read moreIf it's your first time (like it was ours), there are a few things to know before you go. A routine customer filled us in while we were in line. The food truck opens at noon, but you can come prior to opening to get a ticket. Once the food truck opens, the ticket allows you a spot toward the front of the line in front of 'ticketless' customers. So even though there weren't a lot of people in front of us when we initially got in line, gradually people with tickets walked up and got in line, so we ended up further back than we started. By that time, we'd been in line so long already we figured we might as well stay. Also, while they are taking orders for those in line, they are also preparing larger orders as well. When we finally got to the window to place our order, I stood there for a few minutes before being told they had 15 slabs to prepare ahead of our order so we had to wait a bit longer. Our total wait was over an hour and a half. Decent portion size, but unfortunately the food wasn't worth the wait. It was just okay. I still wish them success in...
Read moreMe and my Fiancé stopped by on a Saturday later in the afternoon. The Rib sandwich looked got so we each got one. Then ordered Mac and Cheese, Dirty Rice, and Potato Salad.
The rib sandwich was literally just 3 ribs with the bone placed between 2 pieces of plain wonder bread. How are you supposed to eat a sandwich with giant bones in the way, so we just ate the ribs like regular. Bread wasnât toasted or anything, just two pieces of wonder bread not much effort went in to making the sandwich.
Ribs were very average. So were the sides, and everything was overpriced. The BBQ sauce was really good though.
Happy the owner is having success though.
Place is very popular with the locals, but there are WAY better bbq spots in the ATL area. I wouldnât wait in line for this food, or...
