June 2025 Update:
While I'd love to say that there's been some improvements in the condition of the restaurant, unfortunately, it has actually continued to degrade. There are some good staff members working there. The food is still good. Prices have jumped (as expected) and they've resorted to up-charges on things that used to be included, yet the restaurant itself is getting more shady.
Curing posters on the wall, grill and deep fryer are both very rough looking and right out in front for customers to see as they're building their meal. Stickers over portions of the menu, walls are in need of cleaning, patching and paint, upholstery falling apart. Soda machine is about half non-functioning and needs much cleaning. Pallett ceiling design needs cleaning, or better yet, replacement, etc.
It's getting hard to rationalize paying $15 for a small bowel of food then struggle to find the least gross place to sit in the restaurant to eat.
Really is disappointing as the restaurant concept, food, and menu is so good.
Really hope it turns around. . .
Original Review: (2023) Good food but the restaurant is getting a bit run down already. The grills are very much in need of cleaning and are missing all of the burner knobs, soda machine is mostly nonfunctional, tables are grungy, all of the spices are gone from the shelves.
Don't known if it's staffing issues, management problems, or the restaurant is simply circling the drain.
I hope it course corrects. They do have...
Read moreI've been to the Rochester Hills location 10 times (no, literally), so of course I was at this location the first day it opened.
This one is smaller than the RH one, but it has a bar and it's a mile away from my apartment, so size really doesn't matter here.
What isn't smaller, however, is the menu. New options such as Habibi's Nachos sound promising, and I'm pretty sure the vegetable arook has made it's appearance as an additional protein option for vegetarians (but they contain egg, so not vegan).
The food is as incredible as ever, and in my usual falafel bowl the man making my bowl added in some of their "Baghdad Kimchi," which I'll be asking for every single time now. It's not as funky as traditional kimchi, which is great for me, and their Baghdad spice mix is wonderful.
Get the kimchi, get the Blaze sauce -- the hot sauce that's so good they had to remove it from its original place at the tables because people were stealing it -- get literally anything because you surely won't be disappointed.
Updating: they've also added their Vegetable Arook as a vegetarian protein option for bowls/samoon sandwiches, and I'd highly recommend it. I've had it in both the mini bowl and the samoon sandwich, and it's nicely seasoned and full of veggies. There is a 5-6 minute wait as they're cooked to order, but...
Read moreEver since discovering this restaurant a year ago, I have always enjoyed eating there. The food is delicious, healthy, and reasonably priced. Just recently though, I had a particularly fantastic experience. In preparation for a Tuesday staff lunch, I asked my assistant to call this location on Monday and place a catering order for six people. He did so, but when I arrived at the scheduled time on Tuesday, they had no record of the order. I wondered if perhaps he had contacted the other nearby location by mistake, but after calling, they had no record of an order either. Mike, the catering manager at the Auburn Hills location, immediately sprang into action and put together a great bundle for us off the top of his head that included everything we needed. He even threw in a few extras for the "trouble" which may not even have been their fault. Despite all this happening just as the lunch rush was starting, I was in and out in under 15 minutes and made it back to work right on time for the lunch! Many thanks to Mike and his team for going above and beyond to help me out and offering such stellar service! We will absolutely continue to call this location in the future for our...
