I have gone here 2 separate times. First time (9/12/2024), I got the carne asada fries and my brother got a California burrito.
The burrito was pretty standard, pretty hard to mess up a California burrito.
The carne asada fries did have 1 issue. I didn't eat it right away, as I like to keep the container closed to steam the cheese melted. I waited about 10 minutes and opened the container to see that the cheddar cheese had melted, but there was also a puddle of oil sitting on top. That little extra grease came off gross to me, and indicates that this restaurant uses pre-shredded cheese rather than grating it fresh. Overall, I'd say this plate was only 2nd to the fine craftsmanship of the carne asada fries at California Burrito in Federal Way, and is definitely superior to Memo's in both Auburn and Tacoma, and California Burrito in Des Moines.
I went a second time (9/14/2024) and ordered the birria fries, which disappointed me immeasurably due to the menu being completely wrong about what ingredients are used for this plate. It did come with a container of extra birria consumme, which is standard practice in serving birria. The menu lists the product as "Birria Fries", so it is safe to assume it came with Birria and Fries. Under that, there was a subheading of "Birria, sour cream, guacamole, and cheese". The plate came with 2 of these, birria and shredded mozzarella cheese.
When I opened the plate, I was both surprised and disgusted to see that my birria fries were topped with a thin 4x4 inch square of refried beans, which was not listed on the menu, and chopped raw onions, also no on the menu, with a topping of cheese. At Memo's in Auburn, they advertise their carne asada fries come with beans. Is it too difficult to revise the menu to inform customers of that? I find beans to take away and detract from the plate as a whole. There is no ingredients that ruins a dish more for me than refried beans, which have the blandest flavor, and cause me to fart more than I'd like to for many days.
I would like this establishment to reflect on this review and understand that other potential customers and enthusiasts of carne asada fries, may be intrigued to try birria fries, only to throw the whole plate away from their complete hatred of refried beans.
Please fix this item, as it would be very good if it were treated similarly to carne asada fries, with a good helping of sour cream and guacamole. This is coming from a Level 6 Google Maps Local Guide. Thank you...
Read moreWhen we found out that a Mexican restaurant was opening near our house, we were so excited because it was just a 3-minute walk away. On opening day in 2024, we went through the drive-thru and ordered food. They even had a buy one, take one promo, and the prices were much cheaper compared to the Mexican restaurant we usually go to downtown.
However, from the first bite, the food was not good it had no flavor and was low quality, especially the beef. It had so many tendons and undesirable parts, almost like they were using discarded cuts of meat for cooking.
Since last year, we gave this place multiple chances we went back around 3 to 4 times to try different menu items, but nothing tasted good. Most of their food is bland and made with low-quality ingredients. Their beans taste straight out of a can, as if they just opened it and didn’t even bother to cook or heat it properly.
On April 1, 2025, we decided to give it one last try and ordered takeout for our family dinner. But when we got home and started eating, we noticed that the meat was still the same low quality. Even the chicken in the quesadilla seemed old. My kids and husband refused to eat because the food tasted awful and was disgusting. We couldn’t even finish it it was a waste of $45.
This is the last time we will ever buy food from here. We are never coming back.
It’s not even surprising why this place has such low reviews and why customers no longer return. The food is disgusting, made with no love or care it’s like they’re feeding prisoners or homeless people.
Don’t be surprised if one day this place shuts down you already know why.
If you want quality Mexican food in Auburn, go to Garcia’s Auburn Mexican Restaurant. It’s worth every penny ,no regrets!
Here are the photos to show you exactly what kind of food they serve. Judge for yourself! And please if you delete my comment here again , don’t worry I will do it over and...
