Market 253 in Auburn, WA, offers a mixed dining experience that leaves much to be desired.
At 7:30 PM, we were fortunate to secure a table, which was a positive start. However, the atmosphere was underwhelmingānothing particularly special stood out, and the restaurant was uncomfortably cold, making it hard to relax and enjoy the meal. Ordering was prompt, and we chose the Mushroom Chicken Cutlets and Halibut Fish and Chips. The Mushroom Chicken Cutlets featured braised chicken in a creamy Marsala mushroom sauce, served with linguini pasta and charred asparagus. This dish was a highlight; the chicken, while slightly overcooked, was complemented by a rich and creamy sauce that enhanced its flavor.
On the other hand, the Halibut Fish and Chips were disappointing. The ale-battered fish was overcooked, making it difficult to enjoy, although the hand-cut fries were tasty, albeit not as crispy as one might hope. The accompanying apple jicama salad and tartar sauce did not impress, and the slaw was particularly unappetizing.
Service was another area of concern. Our server disappeared after delivering the food, and we had to track her down for assistance. She did not check in on us or refill our drinks, which detracted from the overall experience.
The meal for two came to over $80, which felt steep given the quality of the food and service. Overall, while Market 253 has potential, it currently falls short in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe restaurant is extremely cold. Iāve overheard a few people complaining to the waitress about it being ācoldā. The waitress āMarnieā tells them that she hears that all the time. The restaurant smells like cigarettes, but itās less about the atmosphere and more about the service that is being provided here. Its awful. My server was Marnie and she did not make my family feel welcomed. She was rude and you could tell she did not want to be there. She never checked on us to see how our food was, or if we needed anything else. No āhave a nice dayā or nothing. No smiles or acknowledgment what so ever. It felt like concrete wall was serving our food. My family and I left the restaurant pretty angry from our experience. We didnāt say anything to her, there would be no point as Muckleshoot would continue to hire staff like this. It does not matter how the food tastes, if the service is bad. It just all goes...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOn June 27th 2025, I hosted a luncheon for 36 family and friends at the Market 253 Seafood House & Raw Bar located at the Muckleshoot Casino in Auburn, Washington. The entire event was Superb! Well earned accolades go to Jason Quintana, our main server. He was on-point providing exceptionally attentive and friendly service. He worked tirelessly with me in coordinating the food service with our schedule of speaking/interaction. Also actively involved and committed to our satisfaction was the restaurant manager Todd Christian and every member of the team: Javier Rodriquez and Emelita Marzan. Our event lasted nearly two hours and every worker was patient and accommodating. The food was great! Everyone in my party was very complimentary on the quality, quantity, plating and freshness of the various dishes. I would definitely use this venue again and endorse this restaurant with my highest of...
