D'Angelo Grilled Sandwiches — Restaurant in Auburn

The food was good, so I'm still going to rate 5 stars.. it was a bit hectic in there when I stopped by. Here's how it went down: Employee: hello sir, what can I get for you today? Me: I'd like a small Turkey without mayo and tomat.. Employee: oh no sir, just tell me what you do want on the sandwich please, it makes it easier for us. Me: I'd like a small Turkey with American, lettuce, onion, and pickles. Also please add the hot pepper relish.

Then I received a sandwich made to my specifications with some additional components. Lots of mayo and tomato..

I even repeated the updated version of my sandwich order to the person ringing it up.. When I worked at DeAngelo when it was DeAngelo's we would type in the order so the slip you were looking at when making the sandwich would match up to what the customer orders. A quick reference tool at the least, and how every food establishment ever does it.. rather than that I received a receipt that said small sub.

Again sorry for dragging it out but... I was cut off when I was saying what I didn't want on my sandwich and then what I ordered, had the ingredients I didn't ask for... I got as much mayo off with the tomatoes as I could.. and it was great..

Next time I order a sandwich I'll ask for everything and have them scrape the mayo off with the tomatoes at the last second.. I believe it added just enough things I don't like to make it wrongfully...

Had the worst experience at the Auburn,ME Center St. Location. First tried to call in my family's order for pickup for 30 minutes and it just rang. Not a big deal thinking perhaps they were busy. I live less than 5 minutes from the store so I just drove over. When I got there there were no customers, still not a big deal! There were 3 young employees there. The 2 up front were rude, unfriendly, and were not in any way trying to help. When she finally came to the counter I started to read our order to her she VERY RUDELY said will you just give me the paper! I was literally shocked but handed her the list ( 3 items). She put on her gloves and went on to touch her hair and face with the same gloves she was preparing my family's food with. After a 20 minute wait she started to bag my order and threw my husband's sandwich into the bag (literally) and then put our 2 rice bowls on top. Her attitude was so bad there were multiple customers behind me who were also complaining about it. When she finally rang me up she looks at me and says " want a receipt" and I said actually yes I do thank you! I get our food and head home (again less than 5 minute drive) and both rice bowls were COLD and my husband's sandwich was smashed. We come here often and have never had this problem EVER!! Will not be...

First, let me say the food was good. However, the rest of the experience was a bit uncomfortable.

We were passing through town and hadn't eaten here or any of the chain before. We entered and the gentleman said he needed to clean the grill first. No biggie. The gal took our ordered and we paid. We got our drink and chips and sat down unsure of the procedure. We were the only ones in there, so we figured we could see when the sandwich was done.

From our table we could her the guy complaining loudly about a co worker and various other things. Then both employees disappeared after about 5 minutes. We waited about another 5 or more and inquired about our food, just in case we didn't see it since no one was in the kitchen area.. The gal realized we were waiting quite awhile and apologized.

The guy stormed back to fix the sandwich, complaining the whole while. He demanded I look at how the bacon was cooked since I wanted it crispy. I only asked for no mayo.

We were comped for our meal (we didnt ask). While we ate the guy complained more continuously about customers ordering items on the side. Said he would quit and see how things would then fall apart, etc.

We are not local and likely wont be in the area anyway. But despite good food, the experience was as I said...
