The Lotus buffet for me bounces back and forth from 3 or 4 stars. While i have been multiple times there for some decent food, I have seen some questionable things go on as well. I cannot give a review on their many mixed alcohol drinks that are available because i have yet to order one.
The variety of food you find at Lotus is a decent little selection. The choices seem to always stay the same although some days they put the salmon out. You can find dishes such as fried rice or lo mein, Orange chicken, peppers and steak, chicken fingers and more. There of course is the options of pizza, mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese, what you will most likely find at any Chinese or Japanese buffet in America.
My favorite is this mix of zucchini chicken and jalapeño. Seriously, i could eat that with anything and all day too. There of course are options of sushi. Now i don't eat a lot of sushi but my daughter enjoys it and i hear they have good stuff, I will have to go for the sushi on my next visit now.
Lotus offers Ice cream, white rice and they have a few selections of soups. The salad bar is pretty straightforward and you can get a little creative there. Next to that you can find the sweets, They change up a lot but there is always something that will catch your eye for sure. They offer some fruit as well ranging from peaches to melons and so forth.
I ran into some negativity when i bit into a bad egg. I had made a large plate of salad and dressing that was very delicious, When i got into the egg i lost my appetite. I didn't notice this half of a hard boiled egg was bad but after breaking into it with my fork i could see the green coloring and the smell was atrocious. I of course made the waitress aware but she didn't want to believe me, Saying that the eggs were fine and just over cooked. Needless to say i don't bother with the eggs anymore.
Lotus gets a lot of customers who seems satisfied and for the most part i am too when dinning there. The service is good and the food is delicious and filling. I'm not a fan of the lighting there, I feel that it's too dim but that's just my personal opinion.
If you have never been to Lotus then i encourage you to try it out. I think you will be glad...
Read moreI ate a Lotus many times when I lived in Auburn and really liked this place. To start with, the food from the buffet is pretty good, given what it is. I never understood why people think food is going to be amazing served from a tin under a food lamp. A buffet is what it is. It's meant to go and get full and that's pretty much it. I've been to some pretty big cities where this was not the case. But again, we're in Maine in a town that isn't that big. But I will say ordering off of the menu is a completely different story. That's where Lotus starts to really shine. They're very close to my work and we order from there all the time. Also, their decor is much better then the other chinese buffets in the LA area. Their staff is also much more on point and the environment just makes you feel more comfortable. I don't eat in much anymore because I don't live as close, but I do remember always liking it there. The owners were always presents and very engaging with their customers. I only knocked it down a star because I think there is a couple of things that they could do that could really turn them into the chinese place to eat in Auburn. The first would be to switch up the offerings in the buffet a little bit. I know that there are a lot of people that go to a chinese buffet to eat mac and cheese and pizza.... Which still boggles my mind to no end. But I think if they offered a little bit more of the stuff that other buffets don't offer, they could really start to stand out in the crowd. Also while the decor is much better then most in the area, I would love to see them up their game even higher then what it already is. Lotus has that potential because they're in a great spot with a huge volume of traffic...
Read moreWe have been here a few times and we were here the other day and the place always has fresh food. You can tell the owners take a lot of pride in their restaurant. They have a lot of food choices, more choices than most buffets. Nothing is ever empty, and the food is always fresh when we were there. If they brought this restaurant to augusta, they would blow the other restaurants out of the water. The staff is always attentive, always refills your cups as soon as it's empty and they are very pleasant. The prices are cheap and for the quality of food is beyond reasonable. The owners are very nice and interact with the customers. No matter the time of day it's always busy but there's usually no wait. My husband says for a chinese buffet the pizza is one of the best he's had. They are small slices of pizza but my husband loves it. There is also other american food on the buffet. They offer a beer selection as well and have pepsi products.
Kids will love this place because there's tons of choices. Chicken fingers, chicken wings, macaroni and cheese, pizza, etc. Tons of vegetarian options. The parking here is spacious and plenty of room, free parking. The decor is very nice, very elegant and sophisticated for an all you can eat buffet. They have tons of tables so it is wheelchair accessible. They accept debit/credit and cash. The only reason I'm not giving it a five star is because it's very rare I give one but I absolutely recommend this place and hope you give it a...
