This one is HARD. Rating on service, 11/10! Amazing people, from the hostesses to the wait staff. Ambiance, also excellent. Beautiful vibe. Comfy booths. Cool aesthetic. Loved absolutely everything... Except the food. Y'all. This was the worst food of any kind that I've had in Maine, and the second worst Mexican food I've ever had in 40 years and a lot of travel. The salsa tasted like Pace picante sauce and ketchup. Chunky, sweet, & tangy, and just all kinds of wrong. We ordered "queso" as a work around to that issue. The cheese dip was NOT queso, not even queso-esque. It was edible, though, whereas the salsa literally was not even choke-down-able. So we salvaged the appetizer round. The drinks menu is twice as large as the menu. No issue to have a small menu, if you do what's on it very well. This was not the case. There were limited options, just the descriptions were suspicious especially after the start we'd had, and the food proved worse than we even feared. His chimi had some type of brown gravy like substance in it, and more of the "queso" on it. The plating was awful, the burrito literally plopped on top of the "refried beans" and everything just kind of tossed together haphazardly. The beans were more like thick, barely flavored pinto beans, and the rice was radioactive orange, with almost NO flavor. Spanish rice should taste of chicken bouillon, tomato, chili powder, cumin, and onion. It should be delicious. This tasted like white rice but where someone dropped an AZO tablet into the cooking water. And nothing else. My chili relleno was almost decent. By itself, it would have been. However, they plated it in the bowl-like plate with the disgusting rice and beans, and a sauce that I honestly still can't figure out. It was like if you tried to make Colorado green chili but didn't actually have the ingredients or recipe, just a general idea and the skills and taste buds of a 9 year old. It was almost gelled, pinkish, and just nasty. I plucked the stuffed pepper out of the mess almost as soon as I saw it and placed it on the "queso" skillet. That allowed me to eat it, at least. I had elected to add the "Baja shrimp" thinking that would come on top or on the side. It was 3 plain shrimp INSIDE the pepper, and therefore rubbery and overcooked AF. Nothing tasted right, very little tasted anything close to good, and not everything was even edible enough to choke down. It's sad, bc the place hits every other mark, and the only other Mexican place in town has horrible service and medium-meh to moderately decent food. I guess we have to drive to Ellsworth or Portland if we want decent Mexican food while we're in Maine. Again, best waitstaff possible. Just horrible food, which is kinda the point of going.

“I’m actually quite surprised by my experience at this restaurant. This review is based on the plate I had, and I have a few thoughts to share. Firstly, the chips could benefit from a little less salt. However, I must admit they were still good. The sauce, though, was impressive. As someone who enjoys spicy food, I felt it could use a bit more kick, but it was still enjoyable. The Mexican setting of the restaurant added a vibrant and inviting atmosphere to the evening. The warm, cozy lights created a perfect ambiance for a relaxed meal. Now, onto the highlight of my meal – the fajitas. I ordered both chicken and beef, and let me just say, they were seasoned just right. The combination of the tender meat and the mix of veggies, peppers, and onions took the flavor to another level. One suggestion would be to season the rice with a chicken seasoning from Texas or California, which could enhance the overall dish. The beans were pretty good as well. Moreover, I was impressed with the excellent customer service throughout my visit. The waitstaff was knowledgeable about the menu, and their recommendations were spot on. They were quick to attend to any requests, ensuring that my dining experience was smooth and enjoyable. Despite the minor seasoning preferences, I would definitely consider coming back to this restaurant for another meal. To wrap up the experience on a sweet note, I indulged in dessert – churros served with ice cream and a drizzle of chocolate. It was the perfect way to end the meal. In summary, my dining experience was a mix of surprises and delights. While there’s room for some improvement, the overall quality of the food, the warm ambiance, and excellent customer service make this restaurant a place I’d be happy to return to.”

Pulled off the interstate and seen this Mexican Restaurant. Walked in and was able to get a seat right away during busy dinner time. The lunge and patio are seat yourself. The atmosphere was very lively and pleasant. You get fresh salsa and nachos right out of the gate. Order margaritas which were good but not great the selection is pretty vast so be prepared to not be able to decide. The food came out in a good enough time frame but ordering drinks did take some time as it was a very busy place. Service was friendly and helpful with great suggestions for new comings unsure of the dishes.

I’ve always enjoyed Margaritas in Augusta for quick, casual Mexican food after a weekend shopping day, but on a recent visit on October 2, we were quite disappointed. We got there just before 4 p.m. for an early “linner” after running errands. A paper sign on the door excused the longer-than-usual wait times due to staffing shortages, which we totally understood. It was quiet inside with multiple staff visible on the premises; we were seated immediately by one of two hostesses. Then, 30 minutes went by and not one staff member came to check on us—despite being 20 feet and within eye lines of the hostess stand, where three staff stood chatting. Several runners bused empty tables around us, but none stopped or said a word to us despite us smiling and making eye contact to suggest something was missing the mark; not even a reassurance that someone would be over soon. Witnessed the same thing at another table seated shortly before us (as they were settling in while we were seated). We wound up walking out and the hostesses (including the one who seated us) wished us a cheery goodbye; such a customer service miss that felt terribly clumsy. After such an error, to pretend all was well was quite tasteless. To clarify: we are fine with wait times everywhere these days, and we still tip 25-30+% in spite of delays. Waiting is fine and expected given the industry’s current challenges! But 30 minutes of being blatantly ignored? No bueno. We will now go elsewhere when we crave some Mexican food. And that particular day at 4:30 p.m., we went to Texas Roadhouse around the block where every seat was packed but turnovers were managed expediently; where the service was impeccable from the hostesses and servers to the polite runners; and where every expectation was set and then exceeded, smoothly and without hassle. Highly recommend Texas Roadhouse for others disappointed by Margaritas; a...
