Absolutely absurd experience at Indian Queen. The bartender asked for IDs — no issue there — but refused to accept my husband’s valid, non-expired vertical ID. He then proceeded to ask if we had another form and luckily we did. My husband had recently gone to the DMV and received a new ID because his picture was outdated. The bartender refused the official paper copy from the DMV showing his updated horizontal ID because it “wasn’t printed in color.” Seriously?
My husband said okay and stepped away from the bar to stand near the lounge area. The girls continued to order, but even then we were ignored for several minutes before the bartender finally said, “I’ll be right with y’all,” only to come back later and STILL refuse to serve any of us. We all had showed forms of ID clearly showing we are 26 and 27, and he wouldn’t serve us unless my husband left the building entirely.
As locals, we try to support Augusta businesses, but this was ridiculous. The bartender was rude, dismissive, and completely unreasonable. We have all been bartenders at some point in our life and I understand there are rules in place for a reason, but this was so...
Read moreI am from Tampa with the boys up here seeing a friend that lives in the area. He recommended we go to Indian queen. I was sadly disappointed At the fact they told all of us we needed horizontal IDs to get in I’m 22 and the rest of my boys are 22 or older. Florida has not even updated to horizontal IDs yet. I have come to the conclusion that the guy at the front never wanted us in at all. The rest of the customers kept telling him and the bar tender don’t let the in don’t let them in. To make matters worse I had another photo ID that was horizontal and I gave that to them and he told me they don’t accept out of state IDs. Then while we were waiting on our Uber they told us we need to leave the premises because we were not 21. The only reason we were told that is because the guy at the front must have had nothing better to do in his life but pick on us so he got the manager to come out and tell us to leave. The place had a bad vibe I would say it’s a place only for locals and the locals don’t want anyone else there. Don’t go it’s a waste of time to...
Read moreWent last night with four of my friends (for context: all of us are 25). We were let in by the bouncer, but when we approached the bar to order drinks the bartender ALSO asked for our IDs (nothing like being ID’d multiple times to make you feel right at home!). He then proceeded to tell us that he couldn’t serve us and that we had to leave, even though we all had valid, non-expired driver’s licenses “because they’re vertical, not horizontal.” He pointed to the “under 21” denotation on my ID as his reasoning— clearly unaware that this means that AT THE TIME I WAS ISSUED MY ID I was under 21, not that someone born in 1999 has somehow defied the laws of space and time to be under 21 in the year 2025. Hopefully the owner (who clearly thinks himself a lawyer, looking at his replies to other 1-star reviews) takes 5 minutes to actually review Georgia law, and invests a bit of money in teaching his bartenders basic arithmetic to calculate...
