Gray's Mill Estate — Restaurant in Aurora Township

Very cool old building with a lot of history. Beautiful outdoor patio/dining overlooking Fox River. The pretzel bites were good. My dinner companions all enjoyed their meals - they stuck with burgers/sandwiches. I ordered the weinerschnitzel. They have a placard advertising Schnitzel Sundays so I was expecting some amazing schnitzel. NOPE! It was disgusting. The mystery meat was drowned in a BBQ sauce with canned mushrooms and barely visable spatzel and burnt bits of who knows what. I don't think the cook/chef knows what schnitzel is. So very disappointing. It got loud as it was trivia night and we could no longer hear our conversations . Our server Ethan was awesome, funny and attentive. The view of the river from the patio was absolutely lovely. Twinkle lights to boot.

Danny's Beef was the best beef sandwich I've ever had. The meat was so flavorful, one slice of cheese was the perfect amount, the bread was fluffy and crispy in all the right spots. The put the juice on the side, but the meat still had some moisture to it. I like mine on the drier side so this was perfect.

Their french fries were also on point!

The place had been busy with Oktoberfest so they were juggling post-festing with hosting their later guests, and they did phenomenal. Positive attitudes abound.

So glad we found this place. Great outdoor areas, and the food was fantastic! Drinks were excellent as well. Service was quick and courteous and we were well taken care of. We will certainly be returning and trying some other items off the menu in the near future. Adults and kids all left full and happy. :) Update: We have come back another time or two and still have nothing but positive things to say about our experience.
