Carl’s Jr. — Restaurant in Aurora

There are many days when I'm hungry but I just don't know what I'm hungry for. You know those days, when something sounds delicious but you just can't put your finger on it? Yeah, like that. Today was not that day.

I knew I wanted a burger. I mentioned wanting a burger to a friend of mine who also said a burger sounded good. But from where? This being America there are so many burger choices it really boils down to some other preference. Maybe it's the fries, or a shake, another side or the greasiness of the burger to be had. Today the decision was made based on veggies. Yes, the decision was made due to veggies.

I'd recently seen an advertisement on TV for a new Carl's Jr. Beer Burger and my friend agreed, CJ's usually has a proper amount of lettuce tomatoes and onions on their offerings. So, the decision was made.

Off to Carl's Jr.!

I'd been to this restaurant before and today was no different than any others in that the dining room was clean and orderly and the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive.

The manager, Alonzo, took my order and was free enough to tell me about the (new, I guess) Mexican food offerings. A couple of other employees jumped into the discussion and we had a lively debate about their food versus Taco Bell, Chipotle and other places. Okay, no other places, just comparing their tacos to TB and their burrito to Chipotle, which I had to wonder was some marketing line they were all asked to repeat. The image didn't look like a Chipotle burrito, but hey, what do I know.

Let's see, I ordered the guacamole bacon burger with extra veggies and it was good. I was sort of hoping for a more greasy burger but to balance grease against veggies, vegetables will always win. Okay, not always. Sometimes I really crave Five Guys, lettuce, tomato and onion be damned!

My friend ordered the California (Big Mac ripoff) with waffle fries. Yes, CJs has waffle fries if you're into that sort of thing. Carl's Jr's. fries aren't the best fast food fries one can get, but they're not the worst, either.

So, if you're in the area and looking for a good fast meal, this is a place...

I dropped by here this passed Thursday. The drive thru was empty, so I pulled up to the speaker box. The woman who took my order greeted me immediately and asked what I would like. I said “May I please have a biscuit and gravy combo.” The lady asks “Which one?” I’ve worked in fast food so I know it’s hard to hear people ordering, especially next to busy intersections, so I leaned closer and tried to speak a little louder and said “The biscuit and gravy.” The lady then gave me a total of just over $5. She didn’t ask me what kind of drink I wanted, or repeated the order back to me, but the total seemed about right for the combo, so I thought perhaps it came automatically with an orange juice or something. When I pulled up to the window, a woman (she could have been the same woman who took my order but I’m not sure) opened the window and greeted me, and gave me the total for my order (again, still no repeat of what I ordered). I gave her my card, she ran it, and then handed me the card and a bag. I pulled away and checked the bag and I’d been given two orders of a biscuit and gravy, not the meal. I know that I’m partially to blame because I didn’t question the lack of a drink, but I really wish that someone had confirmed with me about what I was ordering before I’d paid. And I’m sure if I had driven back through they would have fixed it for me, I just had one of my cats in the back seat after coming home from the vet, so I wanted to get her home. The biscuit and gravy that I’d gotten tasted fine, and they were very quick about the order, it just wasn’t...

2025: I got a grill cheese breakfast sandwich minus bacon and sausage with a burger patty. I also tried it without the burger patty just egg and cheese. It was good, but I needed some ketchup. It would've been better if they gave me a breakfast burger patty instead of a thin jr patty. I paid $1.50 for the patty, too. I'll not be having that again. I'll stick with the breakfast sandwich minus bacon. The cashier was helpful to make that sandwich happen.

2022 update: Drive thru cashier was fast and friendly. The food was fresh as usual. I recommend the breakfast burger but with no bacon for me. Until next time. Oh, that's not served all day it's a breakfast item. So get there before 11am.

2021: It was quick and fast but the person who took my money had an attitude. The person who gave me my food and took my order was so nice so when the person who took my money had an attitude it didn't make sense.

This is a great location though never had any problems. I think she was in training. I had my mask on too just in case....
